It just felt different in the stadium Friday night. Nearly from the opening kickoff, you could just feel it. It now ranks among a handful of games where the atmosphere in the stadium reached a special level. That place gets electric and when it does, I wouldn't trade it for anywhere else. Obviously it has a lot to do with how the team is playing. For example the 2019 game with Wisconsin had potential to be the stadium's all-time greatest atmosphere, but the play on the field didn't allow for that. So, in my book A1 remains the 8-0 Penn State vs 8-0 Gopher game a few weeks earlier.

What other games in our "new" stadium gave you that feeling you were watching something different?

I'll throw an obscure one out there: September 22, 2012 night game vs Syracuse. This game was a sellout (after a period of declining attendance) and felt like the dark ages of the Brewster era were finally behind us. Close game that the Gophers won 17-10 and I distinctly recall looking around that (unseasonably chilly) night and thinking to myself that this stadium can be really special.

I feel like that game marked the end of the disappointing stretch from 2007-2012 and it had the energy it deserved in the stadium that night.

A few of the non-obvious (Iowa/Wisconsin) high energy games that I can recall:
2015 vs TCU
2015 vs Michigan
2021 vs Ohio St
2024 vs USC
2024 vs Penn St
I'll add the Michigan State/Halloween game. I don't remember the year, had to be early on, I was a lot younger and had a heckuva buzz going into the game.

My father-in-law went to LSU and he jokingly (?) says that making LSU play at 11am is unfair because the fans haven't had *nearly* enough time to drink.
Sounds like a crazy good time.

Did you ever get to go to a game there?

I’ve heard that’s the best place in the SEC to watch a game m.

These 2 were losses but I felt the crowd brought it for these games....

2014 vs Ohio State - Dilly Bar Dan Game....even though we lost the atmosphere of that game was fantastic.

2015 vs Michigan - The game after Jerry Kill resigned, national game on ESPN at night for the JUG. Crowd was into it and the team outplayed #15 Michigan for most of the game, only to crap the bed on the goalline. When we thought Drew W caught that ball for the go ahead score the place went absolutely bananas. This was the biggest buzzkill I can ever recall for the Gophers.

Yep, I was there for that...We were all prepared to rush the field. What a roller coaster.

The night opener that year against TCU was amazing, as well. The student section crowd was so fun. Made some good friends that night.

That 2015 game was Halloween. I had a big tailgate full of Minnesota and Michigan fans. I was pretty drunk and started handing out beers to passersby. Until my buddy informed me all of those people were likely underage college kids. Great time, terrible ending.

I was at the 2019 Wisconsin game in the snow. Had potential to be an all time great game but didnt end that way. Was a ton of fun until we punted and stopped playing to win.

I was in the end zone for Bateman’s TD to start the game. It was electric. Then…it wasn’t.

Having a full student section there well before kickoff helps the atmosphere. Our students the past several seasons have been there chanting "row" before the players take the field sets the tone.

In complete contrast, I watched the Badger game on TV this week and seeing the typical student section filling in just before halftime looks terrible.

Woke up Saturday morning and had a weird feeling of contentment about the game. It wasn't just the victory over a bunch that is starting to become pretty annoying; it was the fact that we absolutely kicked their butts on both sides of the ball in the second half. Hell, it's Monday and I still have a glow about that game. I hope Raiola's PTSD treatment is going okay.

The defense showed up big that night and the final score made it look closer than it was. Ryan Nassib and Syracuse was held to just 3 points almost the entire game. They scored a touchdown when the game was out of reach and Jordan Wettstein missed two field goals.

It could have easily been a 23-3 win, and even though it wasn't, the way the defense was swarming made it seem like the Gophers were in control most of the game.

It was 2009, the night Weber had a career night and outplayed Cousins. Duane Bennett also had an amazing game. Tow-Arnett took a huge shot over the middle and Bennett swooped in from out of nowhere to catch the ricochet and run about 50 yards for a touchdown.
