What is Drake Lindsey's ceiling? 1st RD pick?

It would be something else to go from never having a qb drafted to having one go in the first round.
It would be....but long way to go before that kind of talk becomes a reality.

Drake has huge potential but it is all going to come down to how hard he works and how he develops over the next few seasons. Definitely passes the eye test, especially when you factor in his age and lack of experience.

This weekend against Ohio State will be a great chance to see how he responds to a really difficult environment against a great team.

This kid has started less then one handful of college games and is too and to think he can only improve from here on out is so crazy and over any Gopher fan it’s mind boggling imo.

He will need an A game from the Oline to stand a chance. I don’t give them any chance of winning but I think we can put points on the board and the final score probably reflect the little chance the Gophers have.
But any given Saturday!!!!

Where did you hear that? Facebook comments section?
pure speculation on my part. you really think we have the NIL $$ to hold onto Drake, DT AND Koi for another year? Heck, even PJ mentioned it on the radio show last week, how the Blue Bloods will come circling soon.

He comes from a family with money already.

10 years later we have come full circle to the time that Mitch Leidner was pegged as a 1st rounder by Todd McShay! I do think that Drake actually has shown the tools to be an NFL QB and hopefully he continues to develop here at the U!

That whole situation still confuses me as to how it came about ... I liked Mitch but I never understood what Todd thought he saw ... if anything.

Not at all what I said. I'm just saying money may not be the biggest factor for him and his family.
Yeah, gets old, so many just assume any good player is gone due to money when in reality we have only lost a couple of players to the portal that we would have really wanted to keep here.

I can't imagine the thought process:

"Hmmm, here is a thread about the draft prospects for the hot new Gopher QB. Should I give my opinion on where I think he could be drafted if he continues to improve and continues to look this good? Should I remind the readers that he has only played a couple games and could fall off, not being drafted at all? Or, should I remind everyone that he could transfer to a different school? Ah, that's it!"

We all know it is within the realm of possibilities that Lindsey transfers if he has a big year. There are several threads discussing that possibility. The reality is that after a few early NIL bumps, Fleck has mostly been able to keep the guys that are playing well as Gophers. Although I suspect that will be the case with Lindsey, my recommendation to anyone wanting to cloud any unrelated discussion about his play at QB with transfer tales: Just start your own thread or find one of the existing ones discussing his transfer potential and comment on it to your heart's content.

I tend to avoid threads like that, just like I avoid the "Fleck rumored to be candidate for other job" thread. That has worked well for me because all that speculation is just speculation and it has saved me a lot of needless commentary over the years. I suspect it will be the same for Lindsey transferring. If I wake up on December 1 to learn Lindsey is in the portal, or Fleck is interviewing at UCLA... that seems like a good time to read up on the possibilities. Not now. Geez, the continual need to throw wet blankets on everything is unfortunate.

There genuinely seem to be posters that are bothered whenever someone shows any sort of optimism or hope for the future.

They feel the need to provide a constant reality check or find a way to dwell on all the things that could potentially go wrong.

To each their own I guess but that seems like a really crappy way to go through life to me.
