Iowa at Rutgers is tonight at 7:00pm

Brutal last series for Athan.....those throws didn't have a chance of being completed.....

Gronowski is worth the 7 figure NIL salary that Iowa paid him. We gotta figure out a way to shut him down.

That ref crew allowed a lot of holding all over the field tonight. Really bad crew. And the lead official is a local

Hey PJ, get Ciarrocca back! You’ll be a top 20 program. Take a 750k pay cut and give to Kirk you greedy bastard.
Somehow Rutgers can afford to pay their HC more than our HC, their OC more than our OC, and both of their co-DCs make more than our single DC. Fleck making too much is not the issue.

Our two coordinators were analysts making peanuts several years ago their current salaries are twice what it would actually take to hire them. Schiano for all of his faults is an ex NFL coach. You are comparing apples and oranges and frankly, I think the jury is still out on both of our coordinators. Collins had an epically poor night a week ago.

I only watched the first half and then caught the final score. It must have been a pretty ugly second half. Kaliakmanis looks much better at Rutgers than he did for us. Coaching or system or what else? Strong is an awesome WR who will be playing on Sundays.

Gronowski is a clear upgrade for Iowa at QB, but as others have said, their defense looks to be down a bit.

If our Oline plays well next Saturday, I imagine we're going to see us try to stuff the ball down Rutgers' throat and control the clock. That can work, but a clock advantage only works if you score TDs. Rutgers looks like it can move the ball through the air and counter a time advantage.

Both teams will give us fits. As I predicted in earlier posts. Still looks like 6-6.
Exactly. Someone said earlier that Cal was better than both.....BS. Rutgers defense isn't very good but their receivers are WAY better than Cal's. Next week will be difficult. Rutgers had Iowa on their heels but Iowa's defense adjusted and brought it in the second half. I've watched them twice and their run defense is their strength. Gophs will have to throw for 300 + to beat them. And they appear to be gaining a bit of momentum on O as their QB settles in. In Iowa City, don't like our chances there.

I too don't like your Hawkeyes' chances against the Gophs in Iowa City. Pork will be back on the table, baby!

Cal was a reality check for the guys. Now they see what they’re up against. I’m not going to crown em over Gophers but Schiano has steadily improved Rutgers. Iowa is Iowa.

I only watched the sound half. Athan was typically average to good in first halves, fell apart in the second. Seemed similar last night although they did seem to beat the sidearm habit out of him. All respect to MN but receivers there looked a tier above what he had here, or what we’ve seen so far. We need some people to step up for Drake.

Unbelievable amount of PI all night. Same old. I guess they decide to let them play when Iowa is is town.

Not a Hawkeye, just a realist. Watched them last night and against a decent Iowa State team. They are a mid pack Big 10 team but if being objective probably favored over the Gophs right now. They've played 2 teams on the road better than Cal and are 1-1.

Both of these teams looked like MAC teams. Neither AK or Gronowski are good QBs yet these defenses made them look like they were.

Ioaw's DB's always early and love to grab while the ball is in the air.

lol no he isn’t. Both the Ohio and Miami of Ohio qbs put up more passing and rushing yards than Gronowski did against Rutgers.

Iowa brought Gronowski in for his leadership & toughness. Usually when Iowa is behind in the 4th quarter, especially on the road, it's game over. Gronowski lead them to 2 TDs and the win with his arm and legs.

If Athan keeps up his Dan Marino imitation, i fear SUNJ with the state of our secondary.

I've noticed on more than one occasion that he sometimes looks like Dan Marino in the first half but more like the Athan of two years ago in the second half. He definitely has improved over the last two years but he still can be erratic.

As far as our secondary, I still think, despite their poor showing against Cal, that they're better than Rutgers' secondary and our defense stops the run better. For the most part, Rutgers' defense looked weak last night, no doubt exacerbated by multiple defensive players being injured in the game.

I agree that the Rutgers receiver Strong likely will be a real handful.
