Is Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele overrated?

Two games into his career, that is a silly assessment to try to make. Imho, he will have some troubles dealing with the Gophers defense.......

We have an Elite defense. #1 in the nation in yards allowed.

He was a 5* recruit who had 70% completions in his "bad game." The eyeball test trends toward showing the 5* skills - he does some impressive stuff. But he's played two hole games and they were against soft competition. In total, it is early - TBD.

How long til he transfers?

Not enough sample size yet. However some of the media predicting them to win is probably due to the QB but is completely ignoring how good the Gopher defense has bee the first two weeks and last few years.

Who was that San Jose State QB about a decade or so ago we went up against? I remember hearing about highly touted he was, an NFL guy, best QB we’d face all season, etc, etc.

I was expecting to lose by a couple a TDs 😂. The QB was special, and threw for a ton of yards. We still blew them out and totally dominated the TOP.

This kinda reminds me of that. I don’t think we blow out Cal, but I do like that we will be the best defense JKS has seen in his collegiate career thus far (and hopefully for the season).

I think we get a couple of turnovers, and win semi-comfortably.

Perich will house a kick or punt this weekend, too. - Book it.

Yes, probably at this point. We’ll find out for sure when he faces a real defense for the first time on Saturday night.

Long term, it could be a different story. It’s too early to know.

Fales.

Sagapolutele was highly rated coming out of high school.

Well... there have been many, many QBs who fit that description. Some have gone on to accomplish great things; most of them have fallen to earth like Icarus.

But, Gopher Hole, you're missing the really crucial question here:

Who has a brighter future: Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele or Drake Lindsey?

Or... and here's the really, really important question at hand... which of them has The Bigger Arm? Which of them can throw The Deep Ball better?

It’s all about a Tight Spiral!

You never know these days but he came (back) to Cal from Oregon, where he could have been paid as much as anyone. Cal's NIL isn't really an issue either.

No one knows what will happen if, say, we struggle and Texas decides JKS is better than Arch or something in 10 months. But this kid has always been huge on cal and his family is happy where he is

He's rated right where he should be. He is a true freshman that has been incredibly impressive. I think most people expect him to come back down to earth and I hope it starts this weekend.

I'm excited to watch him play.

Yeah, the question and thread title are dumb. He is 2 games into his college career, making declarations about being overrated or underrated don't come into play until the kid actually has some experience to find out.

He was way overhyped by the announcers in Cal's first game but broadcast teams are prone to that sometimes.

Said in another thread, this game will be a great test for both teams untested QBs.

Should be a good game. Pass Defense has been the Gopher program's greatest strength for over a decade so we'll provide a stiff test.
