I struggled on whether to move Iowa or not. I penalized Michigan for being flat 2 weeks in a row but I didn't Iowa. Not sure why but ultimately I didn't want to penalize them for losing on the road by 3 points to a ranked rival. The questions for the Hawkeyes remain but until Minnesota and Nebraska play someone with a pulse I will remain cautious on flipping them.

This week looks to be more of the same as not many teams have a true test. Wisconsin @ Alabama and Minnesota @ California are the only ones that I see that could really move the rankings at this point.

I think it's tough to put teams with P4 wins and 2-0 behind the Gophers. I'd have MSU and Nebraska higher at this point. Rankings are just click bate at this point.

Hard to not disagree with you, Maxy.

Doing these rankings the first four weeks of the season is not my favorite thing.

It's always difficult for me to assess USC, but the bits and pieces I saw on Saturday showed them to once again be very athletic and then I have to remember this is football and not a track meet. Gophers shouldn't apologize for scheduling NW Louisiana State because according to Sport Reference, USC's schedule has been easier to this point, which might be spitballing at this stage of the season.

Until the Iowa offense shows any life I would put them behind Washington, Minnesota and Nebraska. They lost their star rb and the new QB has proven to be ineffective so far, why do we still think they are better than last year?

I didn't think Iowa's offense could get worse then it has been but holy crap do they look bad on that side of the ball.

Gronowski is 21-37 for 127 yards with 1 TD and 2 INT through 2 games and one of them was against Albany.

They get a lot of leeway because their D has been so good year after year, but if their D ever falters at all that team is screwed.

Good point! Nebraska was ranked higher than us by most non-Gopher fans to start the season. There were some reasonable arguments for doing that and they haven't done anything to merit dropping behind us yet so I would keep them ahead as well. I'm not one of those who assumes that we will always beat Nebraska because we have a good streak against them. Ask Wisconsin fans how that type of thinking played out against Minnesota.

I'm not sold on Michigan State being ahead of us yet. They had a big victory against what looked like a decent BC team but I don't think BC's defense is anything like ours.
