Week 1 Other Games Thread

Bama-FSU looks like it should be a fun one. 7-7 early. Would imagine both these coaches seats get realllll warm if the season doesn't go well
 



Castellanos has put up great stats in the past, but can be erratic. He is a headache for defenses because he's so quick and has pretty good instincts as to when to tuck and run. You really can't put a "spy" on him because you may end up wasting the guy given Castellanos elusiveness.
 

Alabama down by 10 to a Florida State teams which had two wins last year. Texas loses to OS and thier offense looks pretty poor. I don't know these SEC teams just don't look very good unless they are playing FCS teams. And how can Alabama be ranked 8th?

Alabama is ranked appropriately but Florida St looks really good.

I think last year was a huge aberration for FSU. Everything went wrong. I think Norvell is a really good coach.

Bama is not as good as under Saban. You can say the only reason Bama won was because they cheated. I don't agree with that. Deboer has as many resources as Saban yet you can see the difference. Coaching matters.

Kind of surprised me bama didn’t go try get a thrower from in the portal. Maybe he wants to run this type of offense but it isn’t what they did well out in Washington

Then don’t have rankings. They look the part but Florida St looks great right now. The speed is unbelievable on offense.

It's a clumsy comparison, but I saw Saban as the football equivalent of John Wooden. Both had a ton of resources and the attention of every top-drawer recruit in the country, but they changed their styles as the game itself changed instead of clinging to a single system. Saban has become a bit of a whiner with the NIL and portal hitting the scene, but I don't think that distracts from his coaching ability.

Not a horrible comparison. Both great coaches no matter what.
Ill get the wording wrong here, but I think it applies like when it was spoken about The Bear. He'll beat you with his'ns and he'll beat you with your'sns.
From what I've read about both, the similarity is attention to smallest detail.
 

Old Dominion’s QB just rushed 78 yards for a TD against Indiana. He had a 75 yarder earlier.

They lost to a shity Michigan team and they are loosing to flordia state 2 wins last year. (Their record is their record). In their last two games played on the field. I don't think they should be ranked in the top 25 because of play on field not because they got alot of 5 stars.

I do believe Texas had nothing to show why they were pre season ranked number one. No position players and some poor throws on that last drove by Manning. Obviously it will sort itself over the next few weeks. I just feel Florida St looks legit right now.

Have you watched Florida St today? Two year ago went 13-0 before qb got hurt. Who cares about last year? Michigan also beat Ohio St last year and went on to win National title. You don’t think Alabama is a top 25 team?

Ok what happens after this game. I think we all agree Flordia State is a better team!! Does Alabama fall to 12 place and an unranked Florida team moves up to 23. Does that seam right! Does it take three losses or four to get Alabama out of the top 25. No rankings until 3rd week would be much better but tv wants an 11th ranked team on tv even if it is a joke.And no I don't think Alabama is a top 25 team but we will find out but it might take 4 losses to get them out of the rankings.

Yes, Bama is a top 25 team, but until I see something different, they are nothing special.
