Curious about the base pay college athletes will receive. Just the level where guys who make the roster. Wondering what is the least money somebody who would who is not get playing time will receive?
 

It’s probably zero. NIL is a winner take most system where the majority of players get nothing.

I bet the median P4 player gets next to nothing, and the median FBS player almost certainly makes $0 besides scholarship.
 

I'm not a gamer so I know nothing about the new cfb game that's out. How many players from each school does it list? If it has the current Gophers roster listed, I assume all players get something from the maker.
 

Didn’t think about video games revenue. A kid from our high school was playing at North Dakota and he was excited that he was listed in the video game.
What about the NCAA settlement… I thought all FB players got a piece of that?

If they are paid evenly from the revenue sharing I think it would come out to around $140,000 to 170,000, i forget what percentage we are allocating to football. The video game pays $1,500 and a copy of the game for those who opt in. Cover athletes get more I’m sure. For what it’s worth I was at a dealership the other day talking to a sales guy that sold some trucks to a few Gophers. He said their finance guy, not being familiar with college football, was blown away by their incomes.

I believe the number is zero. Each team can have 105 players on the roster.
NIL is available to any one but if it is a deal over $600 it has to be reported...
collectives, agents, or players themselves can negotiate their own NIL deal.

In a separate money opportunity each school has a cap for 2025 of $20.5 million
it can't exceed. How they spend it is up to each school. And the $20.5 is for all sports
with football expected to receive the majority of the money and spend as they see best.
Many schools have hired general managers to manage the spending of this money.
I would think a lot of guys receive nothing. Also, all 105 guys don't necessarily get scholarships either according to what I read...dunno....which would save more money to pay the top guys.

It’s still not pay for play. Many will not receive anything as they are not marketable but they now get a scholarship where they were not even a preferred walk on before. I bet most professional low tier athletes don’t get endorsement deals.

Does marketability matter with the revenue sharing money? It is pay for play, this money is coming directly from the University. That’s 15-16 million in player salaries
