Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey shows off big arm in practices - Pioneer Press

Yeah, who knows who he's referring to from Hutch. Lydon Murtha?
I wasn't talking about a QB from Hutch. I was talking about the QB from Mankato West who beat Hutch quite often while they were still in 4A. It was Nelson, not Leidner, my brain was making Nelson and Leidner the same guy for some reason.

Big arm is no good if you don't put the ball in the right place at the right time. That's where the between the ears part of QB makes a bigger difference. You can be Joe Milton who could probably throw a ball through a brick wall at 50 yards but coudn't hit the broadside of a barn in stride or you could be Drew Brees and have kinda noodle arm but put the ball on the money every time. Every NFL coach takes the noodle arm if given the choice between these two types of player.
He has been looking great in Seattle so far. That might be a bad take in another year or so.

-schedules additional therapy sessions-
Be sure to leave enough time to talk to the therapist about:

1. AK cutting the wrong way on the play before the pass, depriving himself of a few sure yards and leaving 3 and 4 instead of 3 and 1 or even a first down;

2. Failure to recover the fumble on the ensuing Illinois 3rd and long play;

3. Failure to stop Illinois on 4th and 11; and, of course,

4. Failure to get anywhere close to covering Williams on the 45-yard TD pass.

That game left a lot of marks. Closest PJ has ever come to some of the Mason all-time losses. And I am a PJ fan (and was a Mason fan, for that matter).

Go Gophers!

Played golf on vacation today with a guy who was retired out of Little Rock. He said that Jim Lindsey who is Drake’s grandpa is royalty at the U of Arkansas after being a big time player there and a member of the Vikings. He also said that he’s potentially the richest guy in Arkansas not associated with Walmart or Tyson foods. Said the fact that Drake didn't end up at Arkansas is crazy and an ongoing topic of conversation among the Razorback faithful. Perhaps the family stuff is well known here but was news to me.

It’s also more than just grandpa who played for Arkansas. He has a long list of family members who played football or another sport for the school. His sister is on the basketball team currently. I believe grandpa is a major donor, as well.

I just hope this mean Drake comes from money and has money, so when big NIL offers come flowing in it won't matter as much. I am nervous about him having a break out year and the appeal of returning home becomes to much -- especially because they would throw a boat load of money at him. Either way glad he is our QB and excited to see what he has to offer this year. Can't control this new NIL reality, so just enjoy every season as it comes.

Have you heard him talk about this? He has a chip on his shoulder the size of the Grand Canyon because of the snub. I don’t see him doing that. I’m sure they have plenty of money, and he’s getting paid well too.

Maybe if things go well grandpa becomes a Maroon and Gold donor too.
