72 or 76 team NCAA tournament.....NCAA determined to ruin one of the best things in sports.

I generally don't care for Seth Davis...but I agree with the logic that if you added an extra round with just 4 teams....it makes sense to me to balance the bracket and add 12 more on same time table. More money, more gambling, more Big Ten, SEC, ACC teams in the tournament and we might be one of them.

So will the 76th best team in the country get to raise a banner for making the tournament? The ultimate participation trophy!

64 was the perfect number. No play-ins, no byes. I’d go back to that, even though it would make it harder for the Gophers to get in as an at-large team.
I have never watched a play in game just out of spite. Same as MLB.

Here it comes. ...

According to some well-known national college basketball writers, it sounds like expansion will be announced in the next 24 to 48 hours. And it's likely to be 76.

The good news? The Gophers will move at minimum 4 spots closer to the bubble!

I was hoping no tournament expansion but could live with 72… 76 too many.. It looks like the inside info my person gave me a few months ago was correct!!. Tournament expanding… I talked to a couple coaches recently they had heard the rumor but it was not confirmed.. this was a done deal months ago… per the person I know..

They're going to turn college basketball into college baseball. A sport only diehard fans care about.

Currently the play in games are an annoyance that you can ignore. 76 will make that impossible.

Currently I am able to ignore the entire NCAA Regular Season aside from 30 or so Gopher Regular Season games and the Big 10 Tournament.

Not paying attention to an additional, 4 or 8 NCAA Tournament Games played on a Tuesday/ Wednesday afternoon on TRUTV or some other streamer? Piece of cake.

No need to expand the field further. There is little controversy with teams in or out as it stands now. Keep the other post season tournaments playing during the week so that there's more basketball throughout the tournament. Don't water those down by jamming every team that's even somewhat watchable in the NCAAs.

I didn't read all the comments but my thought is the more the merrier. I have said it before on here... I used to love college basketball and the Gophers were calendar clearing must watch TV. The past 5-10 years I have lost all interest in college basketball and I watch the Gophers when I am free. The transfer portal, one-and-dones, NIL, and every other change has killed the sport. It takes me until about mid January to even know who is on the Gophers because 95% of the team is new each year.

I haven't watched a regular season non-Gopher game is probably 4-5 years.

I still tune into March Madness for a few reasons... the chance of a Cinderella, buzzer beaters, and upsets. Might as well put more teams in the tournament - I'll watch. I won't watch Wichita State vs. Colorado in the regular season but put them in March Madness and I will tune in.
