Or that he isn’t looking for a job. I’m not tight with the coaching world, but the few people I do know say he is well thought of at least as an assistant. My take is that if he really wanted to go back to work, he could very easily. Maybe not exactly where and on the level he wants, but he could get a job.

Yep and for the 1000th time, no one is arguing he is contractually obligated to do so. There are things in the world that you should or should not do despite contractual obligations - in fact - almost all of the things in life you should or should not do are not bound by contract.

I have no emotional attachment to CBJ. I wished him well and I wished he would have done the right thing. I don't have to be emotionally invested in something to realize what is the right thing to do.

Why would I be emotionally invested in his time as a coach? I was right from the first day. You tied yourself in knots to pretend he was a good hire and now you're twisting yourself into knots pretending to not understand that people should do some things in life without a contractual obligation.

Am I surprised the guy who was handed the best opportunity in his life without earning it doesn't do the right thing? Nope. Am I surprised that you're pretending to not understand?

It's not a pat on my back. It was common sense for anyone who followed college sports.

I never intended to make it sound like it was a brilliant prognostication to know a guy who couldn't get a job at Montana State wasn't qualified to coach in the Big 10. Essentially, it was everyone on planet earth except for the folks still twisting themselves into knots defending Ben at every turn.

I never claimed to be an intellectual. I would never claim to be an intellectual.
I called a poster who catfishes as a young guy who openly claims to be trolling for old men online "gay". You disagree?

Total BS! The AD went for the Youth/Local Hero movement on his basketball hires in the hopes of improving local recruiting and the chance he would hit lightning in a bottle. Neither worked as he had hoped. Lindsey was much more of a local hero, but Ben had very close ties with the families of two of the most sought after recruits in the country.

The internet is full of keyboard hacks that can argue any topic without having any information.

100% of the people bitching about Ben not talking are the ones that were not fans of him as the coach. So how could any of you claim that he is not being appreciative or not showing gratitude for what you all said about him?

Do you actually think that Ben does not feel gratitude or appreciation for his opportunity to be the head coach at the U? So, why do you personally feel entitled to some comments from him?

Growing up would include understanding that people can have differing opinions. And that being different doesn’t always mean bad.

What? I thought you said I was patting myself on the back for predicting he wasn't going to be good. Now you're pivoting to this nonsense. As I said in my initial post, I wish the guy would have done the right thing and just said something on the way out the door.

There are some folks who have twisted themselves into knots defending the guy. They took absurd stances pretending that contractual obligations were the only obligations on the planet. That's just, on its face, absurd.

What stance have I taken in this thread that is absurd? My opinion is that Ben should make a comment and thank the U. We gave him the best opportunity of his lifetime. How is that a more absurd take than pretending that people only do things because of contractual obligations?

One group is twisting themselves into knots and one group is just saying the thing we all know.

Well he hasn't made a statement saying as much, so what is one to think? You can justify the hiring however you'd like, it was obviously a terrible decision by the AD. Many saw this instantly after he was hired. Close ties? To who? Did they sign with the U? Are you talking about Battle and Garcia? They were the biggest names from MN to play under Ben. I don't feel personally entitled to anything. I never supported him so I couldn't care less, but some people did actually attempt to support him. I would think those who did support him would appreciate a statement after all the losing they were subjected to. Maybe not.
