Final Four team. I was at the Minnesota game. Illinois scuffled for a few games after losing Kendall Gill to injury. Only lost 5 games all season and only one with Gill in the lineup. 31-5

Great win for Minnesota, though. Anderson and Battle are all time Illini greats. Lowell Hamilton and Stephen Bardo were solid. Liberty was good off the bench as was Larry Smith.

The team was known as the Flying Illini. They beat Michigan by 12 and 16 during the regular season but lost by two in the Final Four. Michigan won the title over Seton Hall.

Kenny Battle was one of my favorite “other” B10 players. Nick Anderson was a stud, he had the great “game face”.
