Gopher Hockey Recruiting

Where are the NIL pot numbers published?
Lmao, look at the quality of the recruits and get out of the denial stage.

Lindstrom, 4th overall pick, finally confirmed to MSU.

Hey Bob do something.
Maybe he'll get Lakovic. But the others are loading up on top 10, top 5, even #1 overall (Mckenna) picks. Lakovic is raw and wouldn't contribute as much in his first year as the others will.

Wow, This person just asked a question and in typical fashion you take a shot at the program. If you don't know the answer to the question don't respond.

The question was loaded... obviously the answer to it is it's not published.

My what has happened. That 2023 FF feels like an eternity ago.
Maybe he shouldn't have CHOKED worse than the 1998 Vikings

Meanwhile on GPL anyone questions the downward spiral and they hammer them until they're singing Kumbaya

Interesting read on chn from the chl side. Said they’re expecting some of these guys may end up coming back at the break after realizing the ncaa isn’t going to be all it’s cracked up to be and that the money difference really won’t be worth it for most guys. Going to be a very interesting time of flux between the leagues and wonder if this will spur the chl to ramp their payments

Good news for the Gophers so of course bonin hasn't said anything about it
Solid pickup. Not a game changer but seemed very steady on the backend in the ushl and is the guy that pushes out Phillips a year. Definitely raises the floor on the backend for next year.

Would still like to see them find 1-2 impact forwards to add a little scoring but either way it’s going to be a very young team going into next year in terms of college years with only 4 seniors (lamb, mitts x2 and Thomas) with 2 additional upperclassmen skaters (Clark Ludtke).

Was always going to be a bit of a transition year because of that and is probably part of why we’ve been less active as pushing out ntdpers has always been difficult with their expectations

They talked about it a bit on the 32 Thoughts podcast recently, too. I think they said the deadline to go back is January 10th, and they could see some players doing that.

Didn’t need him. Faith in Bob.
This has been known for a couple weeks. Sounds like he just officially decided PSU next year rather than whl for another. Great player for them who sounds like needs some defensive polishing but should be an instant impact.

MN certainly looks 4th on paper going into next year

The fact the gophers are gonna enter this season as 4th in the BIG and maybe 14th in the nation says something about the current state of the program.

GGF. Now two different collectives. It's getting a little overwhelming.

Mason West to MSU. Again not surprised he left with Lee as the one giving him advice.

Is Lee advising West not to go Minnesota a fact or an assumption. Is there a printed quote or article with Lee saying this.

Assumption.
Lee is not shy about loving his time in college away from home and how much he loved ND (think if Jackson was back West would be there). Not saying he black balled the U or anything, but if your primary advisor did a certain thing, makes it more likely you will.

See this a lot in youth hockey (have a bunch of nephews and nieces in high school and Jr hockey right now who tell me about this and talk to parents/friends of parents including some on the NTDP) in that these “advisors” and scouts really push AAA, travel teams, etc and steer people certain ways and families do it because they trust them.

Maybe it was family choice that he said absolutely not to the U as well. They’ll likely never say but when you have the teams he listed in the final four, that doesn’t make sense from a style standpoint as they were quite different

And that’s not a bash on Lee or West, totally reasonable for each to decide their own path.

I agree with your take but the truth is Lee may have said something to West but there is no writtin quote from Lee advising West not to go to the U. It was some poster on GPL who started this rumor with no proof. Sad, this is how miss information gets started.

We’re all fans on a message board who are all going to have takes on things (same as GPL). You’re in the wrong place if you’re looking for reporting. And you’re going to be sadly disappointed everywhere as there’s just not money/interest in college hockey to get it well allocated for news outlets. Schlossman (UND) is one of the only real dedicated guys who also covers national stuff. It’s pretty rare you get any amount of interviews and west had actually gotten pub. Vegoe does some good stuff but he’s usually pretty tight lipped.

First release was Lee saying he was considering Wisconsin, nd, msu and PSU (IIRC, could’ve also been BC) that was on nhl.com. That’s probably all you’ll ever get on the subject.

MSU does have a great selling point to West in how they’ve developed Stramel as well

I am a fan of message boards but, the point i was making is there are people on message boards who can have their opinions but when they say things without proof to back up their statement it can create an issue. The problem with this is other people read the information and think it's accurate because it's on a message board. This seems to be the Andres Lee issue with advising West not to come to the U. Someone posted it on GPL and posters think it true even though there is no proof.
If you hear about statement from Schlossman you can be assured it's going to be accurate because of his resources.

can't really say i've seen that either other than people again saying bob is blowing it with recruiting like we've landed every kid who has ever come out of Edina (which is clearly not the case).

Listening to the interviews, the way West talks about his conversations with Lee certainly give the impression that Lee leaving had an impact on West's choice. The rest will all always be speculation. Of course it was West's decision at the end (it's not like Lee is some handler who pushed him somewhere).

same as everyone saying that, like they do every year, the guys leaving must've "had a foot out the door" and been "focused on their NHL careers".
