Wisconsin Football faces recruiting violations

I'm telling you, the decision to can Paul Chryst is looking more and more like a really bad decision. Not the greatest in the personality department, but Luke is not much better.
Agreed. I'd rather have dad than douche mcgee.

Don't think wanted to deal with NIL or the free agency portal. Also, recruiting started to suffer and teams like Minnesota got better. However; still a better option than what they currently have and should have kept it in house with Leohnard.

If you’re not cheating, you’re not trying.

I’d guess that Fickell wanted this story. In desperation he wants his fan base to see how he is trying the angles.

And the staff probably had vacation planned during the penalty time anyway.

Cheaters. Buck the fadgers.

Don't buy the NIL argument. Badger fans are certainly contributing and he would have brought someone in to facilitate it. I can see the portal as much of a benefit as not for Wisconsin.

Leonhard was the way.

Wierd, I think k it was Genius! I hope they do it again…. Although, that would be wierder.

I remember when we were assured Fickell was entering the Big Ten as one of the top 3-4 coaches already from day 1 and was going to mop the floor with Fleck and Ferentz and get wisconsin to the playoffs.
Ohio state has had one losing season since 1989 and it was Fickell

Since joining the big east cincinatti has had 4 coaches win 9 games and another coach named mark dantonio

I’m not sure there was a way

Structurally Wisconsin always has been closer to Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan state than Michigan state, Ohio state, and Penn state

Lucky for Wisconsin they were in the leaders at the same time Penn state and Ohio state were on probation combined with Michigan being down. This led to the illusion of Wisconsin being a top 15 program in the nation. In reality, they’re a 16-40 program and always have been. Which is great but it means they can’t get pissed at 9-4. They’re Nebraska without changing conferences and without national titles

And they're dicks.

They had some nice years before the Leaders. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wisconsin_Badgers_football_seasons 93, 98, 99, 06, and 10.

But yeah, certainly since 2012 onward these days you nailed it

May 2016-2019 be their swan song, with the game completely having changed on them since then

1993 great season.
They didn’t beat either of the other two teams In the top 3 of the conference.
0-0-1 against those two
1998 great season
They didn’t beat either of the other two teams in the top 3 of the conference
0-1-0 against those two
1999 great season
They did beat a team in the top 3 that year
1-1-0 against the other two in the top 3
1999 is the most legitimate title of the Alvarez era

2006 again a great season. Again 0-1-0 against the other top 3 teams

2010 again a great season. 1-1 against other two in top 3
Clearly the best post Alvarez season
Lost to Michigan state or could’ve been in national title game.

Wisconsin was clearly a top 4 team in the big ten from 1993-2010

From 2011 to the present I’m not sure what they are. But they’re clearly closer to 5 than 1

1993- Wi beat Michigan and was 1-1. Unless if you are referring to Penn St which I doubt.

Also 2017 WI was 12-1 with a close loss to Ohio St in B1G title game. Every other game was at least a touchdown win so every bit as good as 2010 but probably better. 2010 had multiple one point victories including unranked Arizona St at home. Also Mich St lost by 31 at Iowa and 42 to Alabama. I think the B1G was down that year and would not have jumped Oregon/Auburn for national title game.

Actually think WI was better than Penn St over that haul until a few years ago.

1993 Wisconsin tied Ohio state who also finished first
They didn’t play Penn state who finished alone in second place
Michigan finished in a 3 way tie for 4th

I didn’t mention 2017 because the OP didn’t
I actually think the best team was 2011 but they lost two games in the regular season games. The Michigan state Hail Mary and a hangover game against a mediocre Ohio state team the following week.
They then beat that same Michigan state team in the big ten title game

I only mentioned the yellow highlights, which meant they were 1st or tied for 1st in the conference. Some guy then highlighted the issues with that when only playing 8 conf games when the conference is 11 or bigger.

The most important part of it is how Wisconsin has done since the 2021 season to now. :)

It's been a while since they've had a four year run this bad.

I guess it would be 2001-2004 ... which is wild that it was exactly 20 years prior

Right before the Kill hire, Chryst and Leach were both open to being my favorite team's HC... I would have been happy with either of them.

Aren't recruiting violations one of those, "If we want to find something we can and will...so watch it if you don't want trouble!"

Some are more egregious than others, of course.

Yeah, it seems like these were all self reported and most have been complied with in the last couple years. Only remaining thing is they can't phone recruit this week.

Correct

They have come back down to their norm. I would argue they are very similar to Michigan state in that way.

And Ohio St was coached by interim coach Luke Fickell.
