Hudson Dunn commits to Gophers!

Just finished dinner and didn’t think there would be any action tonight. Imagine my surprise. ELITE commitment!

May not look like a big guy next to MSM but this kid is a baller! 4 star lock imo.

Wow, row that damn boat PJ. When was the last time we had a LB commit with a national offer list like that? Always felt like we were producing 4th-6th year overachievers or getting lucky with juco/grad transfers.
Karmo last year had Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan State, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Purdue, USC, wisconsin

Otherwise, Coughlin?? I know he played edge but was a HS LB. Ityavion Brown in 2020 had nice offers but transferred out.

Agreed, it seems like the position we've relied on guys who were under the radar or overachievers. Excited to see what guys like Dunn and Karmo can do to improve the D

But to get one from out of state, much less as far away as Arizona is impressive!

Could really see this kid playing the Henderson hybrid LB/DB spot. We blitzed Henderson a lot. Great if we can keep this recruit committed. Little worried about the money Oregon might offer. Then again, he's a three star and Oregon typically focuses on four stars and fives. Might be a quicker route to playing time here.

If I remember correctly Karmo was going to go on an official visit to Ohio State after he committed to the Gophers. He later changed his mind and didn’t go on the visit. Hopefully, Dunn will change his mind and not go on the Michigan and Oregon visits.

Appreciate the commit, hope it is not an play to get more NIL. Things like this are all about character and culture. I hope the guy ends up proving to be a great fit for the U of MN.

In the end, we do live in exciting times. The thought that we get a handful of recruits every year that now have blue blood offers is amazing. I remember when we had a handful that had other P4 offers and we thought that was a win.

Yup---years ago, we joked about which directional school from Michigan in the MAC we were competing against.

I am seeing a lot of "hope it sticks language on here" and it is even from myself. However it should be noted - next year we will have 3 (Cashman, Gibbons and Lindenberg) or 4 if you count Boye Maye as a OLB. All of which went to the NFL under Fleck. Because we are not a linebacker U - you can come in and be part of the rotation almost immediately on a potential top 10 NCAA defense that has the potential at a playoff run in 2026/27 if the offensive talent develops.

Lot to like for a new recruit.

Well said. Great selling point.
