Yes but if anyone can get around a court ruling…..Maybe I’m alone but the thought of the government putting a cap on how much income someone can earn doesn’t sit well with me.
I remember when there was a party that strongly opposed such ideas.Maybe I’m alone but the thought of the government putting a cap on how much income someone can earn doesn’t sit well with me.
Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps?Maybe I’m alone but the thought of the government putting a cap on how much income someone can earn doesn’t sit well with me.
Not a fan of the idea of them but at least those are collectively bargained and agreed upon and not government imposed. Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps?
I think they make the product vastly superior to pro leagues that don't have them.
Even with the salary caps, top NFL and NBA players are making just as much if not more than MLB players. Individually, the caps haven't had that much of an effect. Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps?

If colleges had unions and CBAs then we wouldn't be in this mess. Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps?

This is what the Supreme Court said in Alstad, benefits keep rising even with the so-called restrictions. Therefore, those restrictions were only intended to distract the students from the reality. More money keeps pouring in. In every major league sport the revenue keeps getting larger, not smaller. It grows with the economy. Why anyone would want to agree to halting growth is beyond my comprehension. If the money is there, let the negotiations begin.Even with the salary caps, top NFL and NBA players are making just as much if not more than MLB players. Would you be OK with the Exec Order if it said something as simple as "Student-athletes at NCAA member institutions have the right to collectively bargain with the NCAA for revenue sharing and similar benefits, without being required to be employees of the schools" and left it at that? Not a fan of the idea of them but at least those are collectively bargained and agreed upon and not government imposed.
Or, that the person who can execute an EO listens to 1 single person and is ready to act.Maybe I’m alone but the thought of the government putting a cap on how much income someone can earn doesn’t sit well with me.
Only the best POTUS in my and your lifetime!!Trump just said he wants to limit some groups pay. What does that tell us?
Why would athletes agree to some sort of cap on their pay?Would you be OK with the Exec Order if it said something as simple as "Student-athletes at NCAA member institutions have the right to collectively bargain with the NCAA for revenue sharing and similar benefits, without being required to be employees of the schools" and left it at that?
Then the athletes could bargain the amount of the cap, without it being mandated?
Just look at NFL, NBA, NHL.Why would athletes agree to some sort of cap on their pay?
Also I am no attorney but I don’t even know how an arrangement like that would work.
Interesting the difference comparing the leagues by minimum salary and average salary. Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps?

I will fully admit I didn’t read the article and don’t know any details of the proposed plan, but those players are employees who only have a certain amount of negotiating power with the teams. I think that poster was asking about negotiating pay caps without employment?Just look at NFL, NBA, NHL.
Salary Cap is collectively bargained and only covers salary. Jordan makes $400 million per year 2 decades after he retired from NIL...no cap on NIL for those players...just ask the Kelce Brothers. The govt/ncaa/communist twots can suck ballz...bag of cash to sign autographs is MERICA!Not exactly the same point, but your thoughts on the NFL/NBA salary caps?

Is this Beijing? Take that socialist crap out to the trash and bury it.The idea of a salary cap is to spread the talent around more.
The current situation is out of control IMO. Something needs to change.
