Plitzuweit can coach. If she stops playing a nonconference schedule more worthy of a Big Sky team and ends the “young ladies” bit for her athletes, Dawn could join the A list.

Go Gophers!!

Interestingly enough.....the Dawn rating didn't make it into the version of the column that is in my print edition this morning. I thought he might not have graded her using the "I don't follow that team" approach. At least Patrick didn't call them the "Lady Gophers" like some other folks insist on doing.

Hope the continual public shaming of Coach P’s non-conference scheduling leads to a course correction, but coaches are a stubborn lot. Off-season scheduling news will be interesting.

I part ways with Reusse over “young ladies.” It’s Coach P’s thing. No need to change.

"Shaming involves degrading, humiliating, insulting, embarrassing, and even dehumanizing others."

You extend your appalling words to the general public. Voices on this forum have disagreed, many strongly, with the non-conference schedule. But you are the only one doing "shaming."

But perhaps shaming is the world you live-in and know!!

Save your lecture for someone who cares what you say. I don't ignore people as a rule, but I'll make an exception in your case starting now. Shaming is also a perfectly appropriate word. Shaming involves insulting, and that's precisely what Reusse was doing. Coach P should be insulted for the worst P-4 non-conference schedule in the country that she freely chose.

Yeah, I don't think she calls them "young ladies" for any reason other than that's exactly what they are, 18-24 year old women. It's not really to diminish her expectations from them. Plenty of good, serious coaches even call them kids, because they're still relatively young in the grand scheme of things.

Ok. I'm not crazy. Was wondering why he didn't rate Coach P. I wonder if someone complained and it was added to the online version.

Agree on the non-conference schedule. Regarding "young ladies", I'm on the fence on it but if the players are ok with it, that's fine.

It could be worse. A lot of people, including people on Gopher Hole, refer to them as "Girls."

That's not being fair to the Big Sky. A couple teams may have played nobody but Montana State played Ohio State, Utah, and FGCU; Northern Arizona played UNLV, Grand Canyon, Arizona and James Madison; Montana played, besides the Gophers, Michigan State, Washington, and South Dakota State; etc.
Since I assume someone can't force teams to play them, I have no idea what last season's non-conference schedule that generated no excitement to the general public was about, but since I stumbled across a few clueless coach (from other conferences) interviews who have no idea what makes a team a tournament team, I hope Plitzuweit isn't one who thinks the way to make it to the tournament is by trying to inflate your NET (which alone doesn't get a team into the tournament) by blowing out as many terrible teams as possible.
