All Things 2025 Minnesota Twins In-Season Thread

The lousy part is you can't blame this on injuries or being cheap. One of their best, most reliable players has absolutely fallen off a cliff from where he was last year.

We are playing exactly like last August and September. Haven't skipped a beat.

Difference is our starting pitching feels like doing much better, but doesn't seem to matter in the end

That doesn’t seem like it’s mathematically possible.
It is certainly possible if a team keeps stringing together long losing streaks with only an occasional win in between. The pattern below, for example, shows at least 6 instances of losing at least 13 of the last 15 games.

Lose 6 games
Win 1 game
Lose 6 games
Win 1 game
Lose 6 games

The ChiSox only won 41 total games in 2024. and had losing streaks of 21, 14, and 12.

A single 21 game losing streak would feature a minimum of 11 instances of losing at least 13 of the last 15 games.

It was a guffaw at their ineptitude - not a literal analysis!!

Firing the manager on the day off would be the thing to do but with the whole the team is up for sale more than likely they let the season play out.

If a sale of the team does happen everyone in management could be gone and any on field decisions will be made by a whole new group.

I don't see how firing Rocco effects the sale. Either way the interim would finish the season and the new owner would hopefully fire Falvey and install a whole new regime. Rocco will not be managing the Twins in 2026 in any case. Pull the plug now and see if Toby G or Tingler can spark anything.

The Twins aren't in a good spot. They're eight games under .500, have an injured ace in Pablo López, and the club's two biggest stars - Carlos Correa and Byron Buxton - are hitting a combined .220 with five homers in 21 games. To make matters worse, fans aren't showing up to watch the product. Minnesota is averaging just 17,995 attendees through its first nine home games, which comes at a time when ownership uncertainty clouds the franchise's future.

I would be really curious to see how many ponied up for Twins TV Streaming at $99.

The Padres were able to get 40,000 which is what has been used as a baseline for the getting around $5 million from that platform.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins are more in the 10,000 neighborhood getting them into the Single Million Dollar range.

Twins are sending out emails promoting "Division Rivalry" tickets vs. the White Sox for 9 dollars. They're going to break the low-end attendance record this week.

At least Buxton is starting to show signs of life. And he also makes significantly less $$$, so the baseline of where he needs to be is much lower. The Correa thing though is starting to look like a huge problem for years to come.
