Syracuse WR supposedly demanding $2 mil, enters portal.

I don’t know how these good but not great players are coming up with these numbers. Makes you wonder what kind of budgets these teams are working with.

This is how the world needs to negotiate. How else can you establish an effective market? Good for Pena in establishing Brown as a blowhard. At least Pena knows one thing for certain, at Syracuse, he isn't worth $2 million. Good for him. Now he knows.

Unfortunately you risk a pay cut by exploring the market.

Seems like a bad idea to do this in the spring when most teams have fleshed out their rosters much more than at the end of the season.

2 mil is a lot for a guy who wasn't even the main option for Syracuse. He was #2 in yards, behind another WR and nearly tied with their tight end. They had a good QB last year and passed a lot.

He's a grad transfer so there's not a ton of upside from that. Before that he barely played.

That is how the open market works. It is how you get to know your true value.
Well, I hope for his sake he had a higher offer in his pocket. To give up whatever he gave up with hopes of getting more is not a good strategy. I'm guessing someone, somewhere, let his agent know what he could get.

Will be interested to see how all this plays out. Personally, I hope all the coaches support Pena as his demands are ridiculous.

But it also isn't mandatory for the school to wait around for him to make up his mind.

I don't think he was arguing it should be illegal for this kid to shop around, it was just stupid. He lowered his value by looking around in spring.

Dudes, I just need $14.95 to continue being a fan. Surely DTA can accommodate that.

Caveat venditor.
