Kyan Evans

Ok, who was better?? This program has been in the dumps for 25 years and we have not had a decent back court since so again who was better??

For starters, I like Asuma's potential but man does everyone completely overrate MN prospects on this board. He hasn't even proven he's a starter in the B1G yet. Even though Evans likely will be a P5 starter, he hasn't proven it yet either.

How about Nate Mason/Amir Coffey/Dupree McBrayer? Or Amir Coffey and Gabe Kalscheur? Or Marcus Carr and Gabe Kalscheur?

You don't have to go back too far.

Al Nolen/Blake Hoffarber
Nate Mason/Dupree McBrayer
Amir Coffey/ Gabe Kalscheur
Marcus Carr/Gabe Kalscheur

Don't get me wrong, I'm pumped for Evans, but common, lol

Amen. He was actually pretty bad - people are projecting a best-case scenario for him based mostly on maroon-colored glasses rather than actual performance. It’d be better for the team to get players at his position that have *proven* they can produce.

True, but by definition, he's a starter until we have at least six players in the fold.

Or think of this a second, Medved can coach him up to a higher potential than Ben did. His results-oriented approach might provide the clarity the team needs, pushing the player to thrive or making tough decisions if improvement doesn't come. Or he becomes visibly worse under Medved, but we never see him play again because Medved won't play an underperforming player. Or he does play him underperforming and we find that Medved wasn't the improved choice. I can't wait. This is so much fun.

The bolded is what I'm most excited about. Ben Johnson was never on a winner and didn't know the feeling since HS. Niko brings a winning culture that hopefully translates to MN.

I'll take his stats, experience, and familiarity in year one.
Isn't it time to leave the Ben Johnson bashing behind? He brought in a lot of good players who left due to insufficient NIL funds. His players were well coached and played hard if you went to any gopher game. The athletic director hired a inexperienced coach to a changing college athletics landscape and Ben was not prepared to deal with NIL stuff. That's all. He wasn't a bad coach or person.
