Any info on how the practices have gone? Players that have stood out, etc…

I like the idea, but I also think it increases the chances of players getting hurt. The same concern applies when facing your own teammates, but the risk is even higher against other teams that have nothing to lose by injuring opposing players.

Akin to the scrimmages in the NFL during training camp. Often led to fights and heated exchanges for no good reasons.
 


I'm not sure that a spring game solves any outstanding problem. It does add to wear and tear on players' bodies.

It was against Madu. Does that mean both are getting run with the 1s? I’d also be interested to see a safety in on that play.

Looks like Drake could’ve easily put a few more yards on that ball too. Can’t wait to keep mainlining these practice clips all spring

Not certain, but I'm guessing it's a 1 on 1 drill.

No, they were just doing 1v1's. Lineup and go against the next person up.

I think it would be worth considering sharing practices with the Dakota schools because it would give us an opportunity to check out their talent and give us an idea of who to try to recruit over for the next season. Which is also why I don't think it would work generally across the board, it would make poaching that much easier for power schools.

Sure, maybe you can throw in a couple of combined practices with a few of the local high schools also....

WTF, why would you want to dilute your practices with a bunch of kids that have no business being on the same practice field? And why would you introduce them to your style and tempo of practices It would be a total waste of time. The U has multiple levels of players that can serve as practice squads, players that are expected to eventually jump up to the first string levels.

Valid points that I didn't consider, I was looking at potential positives. Again, I said "worth considering," not "this is so foolproof we'd be fucking morons not to do it." 🤷

I would also argue that in the past decade several Dakota schools have shown that they can hang and occasionally win against Power 5 talent
