Gophers load the bases in the top of the 7th with no outs. Then cant get the ball out of the infield and lose 2-0 to McNeese.
I really hope there's a coaching change after this season cause this program is in gutter.

“Change” is an enticing nymph, but change almost always ends but for the worse. I think that it would almost certainly be for the worse in this case.

I feel like were going to miss the NCAA tournament again this year, but what hoping for is to see significant improvement from the pitching, defense and timely hitting (especially how to bring runners home). When we get good pitching we can’t hit and if we hitting then the pitching fails and errors with either scenario.

The only chance we will make the tourney is if we win the BIG tournament. However, at this point I don't think we would even make the BIG tournament.
 

Should not be losing to Mcneese, Vallejo was their best player but she transferred to LSU this season

Well… there is zero chance we are making the NCAA tournament this year.

But the goal is to do well in the Big Ten tournament. It is just so sad that those money grubbing fools at the Big Ten Conference allowed UCLA, Oregon, and Washington to come in and take up the three of the four Big Ten tourney semi finalists each year.

I was thinking the same thing this afternoon. How did Gopher softball get out of the gutter in the first place? Simple. We got lucky on a totally unproven coach hired at a bargain basement salary.

And rest assured this administration wouldn’t be throwing money at a new coach. Odds are we would go through 10 more coaches before we got lucky again.

So I’ll stick with someone who still has a lot of support in the local softball community and hope we can get lucky with a pitcher or two to regain our lost relevance.
 


With Krapf and Valencia gone at seasons end can’t even imagine how we’re going to produce any runs next year as it’s already limited.

No dominant pitcher and no power hitters, 2026 looks very bleak.

Minnesota is in the position we are always in as a far-Northern school, we need to get lucky.

Current players need to take a big step up in their development and we need a pitcher that has “it.” Moulton, Groenewagen, Fiser, and Pease are recent examples of a Gopher pitcher who had a strikeout pitch as a 18-year old (Pease had obvious strikeout capabilities at Idaho State). It can happen again.
 

We just need the recruits to do the bare minimum to win because if they start to get gaudy numbers other schools are gonna come poking around and next thing you know they're transferring out.

11 runs in the 2nd inning for Sparty...all after two outs. Just a horrible half inning in about every way possible.
 

Can’t even explain the disaster of a second inning for this gopher team. How did the program get so bad? I know there’s probably not much if not any NIL funds for softball but there has to be a coach that can teach fundamentals and find some recruits that can hit and pitch.

All can is WOW!!!😮 I was excited to see Richardson back , but 3 walks, 2hbp in less than 2 innings not a good first outing. I turned off the game after Hosick gave up the hit. Why doesn’t Piper come out and talk to her pitchers before things get out of control? This game looks like softball version of BB 29-1 loss to Kansas.
 


I for one can't figure the Gophers' coaches' handling of pitchers. Why in the world did they not start Schwartz in game 2 v. MSU? She only pitched 3 innings in game 1 and surely was rested. If she had pitched even 4 or 5 innings in game 2, it would surely also have been a win. Using Richardson, who hadn't pitched an inning this year, was a clear statement of,,,,what?...that we're offering our opponent with only 7 wins a fat chance to beat us? Even if they had hit Schwartz in the start, it wouldn't have been for 11 runs. A similar situation happened v. St. Thomas. Schwartz didn't pitch in game 1; Hosick did. Then Hosick started game 2 also. Why? She'd been sitting in the dugout for at least an hour not staying warm. By the time Schwartz appeared in inning 2, Gophers were already 3 runs behind. It was then up to Schwartz to beat St. Thomas pretty much alone with her arm and her bat. If schwartz is your pitcher, let her pitch every inning she can.

I would have started Richardson coming out of the bullpen working her way into the starting rotation.
 

It sure didn’t look like many people were at the Gophers game tonight in Oklahoma. Americans need to get up off the couch and go out into the world.

Can someone explain the pitching decisions to me? Why start Schwartz after PSU was hitting her at the end of the last game. I would have started Susa since no one had seen her pitch yet. Lastly I think they pull Schwartz after 4 innings as she seems to falter around the fifth. With 6 pitchers, switch them up to confuse the opposing team.
 

One thing that’s consistent with this team is they will make errors. Head scratching errors.
 

Turned the game off in the 4th as Gophers were down 5-0 and haven’t hit the ball out of the infield.
 

My guess is the number count of posts on this message board are going to keep going even further down… precipitously.
