I've heard it is NIL related. WVU NIL budget is ~$5 mil, and Iowa is lower. DeVries doesn't want to take the job if there are less resources.

Now I call BS on WVU having a ~$5 mil NIL budget. WV is a poor state GDP per capita wise (not a perfect indicator of wealth). They have some wealthy backers though. Pat McAfee donated $1 mil last year. WV doesn't have pro teams, and people in their state apparently donate more to the program because it's what they watch and cheer for. Iowa IMO should be in a similar spot, and has a higher GDP per capita.

NIL needs to be revamped. I am all for companies paying players for services. I am not for the "donations" to bribe players to play at a specific school. Could you imagine that in pro sports?

Both might have sights above Iowa at this point. Sounds like they are 2 of the 3 for Indiana. Some have said Indiana's #1 is Clemson's coach. DeVries is the only one that isn't in the tournament.

Schools want to move fast, but if you are trying to get a coach in the tournament you have to really wait until they are out, is the current practice.

I really hope Ben McColloum remembers what it’s like for a College Basketball player not to receive an offer from the hometown school.

Picture him in the Iowa AD’s office, pen in hand. Paper spread on the table out in front. He goes in to sign, and then - beth’s hooror as she reads it….. And instead of a signature it reads “Who hates Iowa?”

McCollum spurns Iowa, just like they spurned him 20 years ago. Walking out chanting his winning phrase at the top of his lungs. “Who hates Iowa!”

And the fake agent he paid to record it all puts it on twitter. Where it’s forever pinned to the top of a thread.

And to y’all that say the American dream is dead, I say, it’s only because you have not dared to dream a worthy dream, as I have.

Omaha is the easiest Airport to get through that is in a Big City. At least that I can recall.

Way better than Detoilet, MSP, and say a Penn St.

Get there 45 mins early with a rental. You can get in, through security. Get food. And still have to wait because no one else is flying. And they’re Omaha nice too. If security gives you shit, Just say go Huskers and yer all good - probably.😉
 





I know that schools are anxious with the poral opening, but there will likely be a ton of movement in coaching once teams start falling out of the tournament. Portal window opens for players of teams that lose a coach, so they will have opportunities.
