I think true football fans know what we’re getting with Hendy and Pawola.
Guys to watch a lot of film and run drills and do a lot of the behind the scenes grunt work of coaching?
Wow. That’s a troublesome comment.
Or you could just relax and roll with the joke...Why? Is there something I'm missing here?
This is the role of assistant position coaches, analysts, and grad assistants. Watch film, run drills in practice, help out in recruiting. Pawola was a student at the U as recently as 2020. He's doing quite well so far in his coaching career for not being a college player.
Hendy graduated college in 2021 and is also a new coach getting his first FBS chance.
It's no different from corporate life where the junior bankers or engineers or officers or whatever do the behind the scenes grunt work until it's their time to lead.
If we don't have a major drop-off in performance at QB, I don't think have a major drop-off in performance overall. Fleck has been here a long time, there's a blueprint for day to day and week to week operations, and I don't think an inexperienced position coach is going to screw it up. The coordinator level is the most important. Harbaugh showed the problem was AK, not him, based on last season, and Collins has been around for a long time and has run our most successful defensive position group as well as our defensive pass game, which we've been wildly successful with. When you look at our staff from top to bottom there isn’t enough hair on our fellas’ nuts for us to be more than average, most likely. Even if the coaches are super talented, our overall lack of experience will get overwhelmed by more experienced staffs; for a couple of years at least while our guys fail and learn.
