RB Ky Thomas transferred from MN to Kansas to Kent State to Washburn.

Yeah, he looked pretty damn good as a freshman when pushed into action due to injuries of those above him. Something must have happened since he left.

021 • FRESHMAN SEASON: Started four of the nine games he played in • led team in rushing attempts (166), rushing yards (824) and tied for the team lead in rushing touchdowns (6) • his 824 rushing yards rank fourth all-time for a Gopher freshman • his 91.6 yards per game average ranked sixth in the Big Ten and his 824 rushing yards placed him ninth in the conference (most for anyone who played in nine games or less) • caught six passes for 44 yards.

He looked good for the Gophers. Was the O-line just that good or what happened?
He had conditioning issues. It was why he was in the dog house with Fleck his FR season. It was why he lost playing time to a significantly less talented but much more reliable/hard working player like Bryce Williams.

He overplayed his hand. Too bad. Wish him the best.

I was never super high on him but I really thought he was at least a serviceable Big 10 running back for sure.

Yeah, quite the journey on his part and hasn't come close to equaling what he did while here in any of his other stops. Hopefully he took his classwork seriously in all his college jumping so that he is ready for life after football.

Wonder if guys like Ky look back and wonder what could have been had they just stayed put. Oh well, I agree with your take that it was tough to say what his ceiling was but at the very least he seemed like a solid Big Ten level RB after his freshman year.

Yes. Plus, Washburn High is apparently giving out some big NIL money. So it all makes sense.

Time to go get a job.
Yeah, at this point you're in your mid-twenties and you know full well football isn't in your future. How much effort do you wanna put in to playing with a bunch of glorified high school athletes when no one really even cares if you win or lose?

I suppose it would depend upon the degree, but I'd be a lot more careful in the interview process if someone earned a degree with a potpourri of classes from 4 different schools. Usually the classes are structured so one naturally leads to the next, etc.

Yeah, a solid depth piece for RB at the B1G level along with a degree from the U of M. Certainly better than where he is now.

Sadly for him too is he likely missed out on his best NIL opportunity after his monster freshman year and likely stood to earn more here after Bucky left for Oregon

If Washburn HS doesn't work out, I think he has some kindergarten eligibility left.

I was pretty quick in high school, but if I transferred back now I'd probably be an offensive lineman.
A high school team might trust me as a holder on kickoffs when it's windy. That's about it
