So Marquette IS 1-2 against the Big Ten this year. Interesting. Maybe a middle of the pack team in a down Big Ten?

No because they beat the team in second on their home floor. Shoooooooooot

Wisconsin is a bad match up for them tho suck but fact. But WIsco isnt the part of the generous comment anyways

Calling this league parity was nuts. Theres a reason why teams like the Gophers and Michigan State only have a handful of Top 50 net wins.

Because most of the league blows

The Big East has 11 teams and two of them (Georgetown and Depaul) are basically automatic wins. Taken with consideration that the #2 team in the Big East went 1-2 against the Big Ten and the #3 team in the Big East was 0-2 against a couple of Big Ten teams that "blow" (Iowa & Rutgers).......I'd hate to hear about what that makes the Big East outside of Uconn. Glorified mid-major?

The fact that the Big East has 9 teams of 11 teams with a NET that makes them a Q1 road game.

Or the fact that Ben Johnson is 0-1 against auto win DePaul in his career

Or that Purdue cant win games on Nebraskas home floor but Creighton blasted them by 29 in Lincoln.

Like I said, the transitive property is a rabbit hole that will never end well.

PSU had only one player not enter the portal off last year's roster. Same with Johnson with Ihnen. Seems pretty similar to me. Johnson either didn't want anyone on the roster, or couldn't keep anyone, it doesn't really matter at this point. It's in the past. I'm just failing to see how, when both teams have one guy not enter the portal, how that's exactly different.

And Johnson could have brought someone with him from Xavier.
No, it doesn't seem similar to you...if you're honest with yourself.

Retaining inherited players is not the same as finding & recruiting new players. Even if they entered their names in the portal. And you know this. You know for a FACT that Rhoades couldn't have retained Mashburn & Robbins.

You also know that older head coach Rhoades bringing his current players isn't the same as Ben being a brand new young head coach who's plan is starting with recruiting. You know this.

The only thing that matters is that the top of the Big East did pretty poorly against the Big Ten. Marquette is 1-2. The #3 Big East team lost to the #9 and #10 Big Ten teams.

No wonder UConn is basically sleepwalking through the conference schedule. The Big East is weak.

Kinda hoped youd walk into this one

Uconn the last 2 years has had 1 game against a non BE team that wasnt won by double digits. This year at Phog(dont think I have to explain that home court) when they lost a one possession game without Castle.

Basically the BE is so strong, its the only thing in college basketball keeping Uconn from being the Dream Team.

The Big Ten should consider scheduling more games against the top of the Big East in the non-con.....so teams like Iowa and Rutgers can pick up wins before they start playing other Big Ten teams.

PSU can return everyone of significance except for Wahab. Don't know what it means, but that's their situation.
They're scheduled to lose 1 key player, we're scheduled to lose none.

I don't guarantee anything...but we're ahead of them in the standings. And we're improving.

I simply can't understand the obsessing over the first 2 years and the fascination with Rhoades & Shrewsberry.

In terms of high end teams.....yeah.....the Big Ten is definitely down in that regard. On the other hand....outside of Michigan....there really aren't any dogshit teams. Even the lower teams in the Big Ten standings have managed wins over teams ranking highly in other power conferences. So again.....yeah the ceiling is a bit lower this year. But I'd say that the floor is also higher.

Sure the bottom is better, but that doesn't really translate to anything. The top and middle(5-9) are down relative to other years as well. Honestly, the league has been hurt by us and PSU playing so well in conference because we had awful OOC resumes.

1-2 against the 3 best teams in the league and all away from home. Honestly, that's pretty good. If you give Marquette our B1G schedule, they're likely winning 16/17 conference games.

Make sure they schedule Uconn. Need the metric bump

Not to mention the Purdue game was by 3 in a game where purdue hit a 75 footer at the halftime buzzer. And Marquettes big man sat the 1st half in foul trouble

They were +9 with Oso in the 2nd half.

Not that it matters cause Purude is elite anyways.

WHat went over his head is the generosity with the big10 is considering Iowa/Indiana/Maryland parity. They all stink this year and its basically fucking the gophers he should be more worried about that then trying to defend them

So Marquette....who is 1-2 against Big Ten teams this year....would go 16-1 or 15-2 in the remainder of this hypothetical Big Ten seasons? Let's see.....conference losses against Providence, Seton Hall, and Butler. lol.....they maybe go 14-6 at best.

I know CBJ and Rhodes both walked into having 1 scholarship player return. Those are the facts. Whatever happened after that happened.

Seton Hall has wins over Marquette and UConn.....yet lost to Iowa and Rutgers (also USC). Thinking the Big East is a paper tiger this year. Lots of mediocrity. Hopefully other people inflate their value when it comes time to fill out brackets. I foresee a lot of early exits for the conference that played very poorly against teams that "blow".

Gophers lost to Missouri who cant win a game in the SEC.

Meaning the entire big10 is worse than the SEC. Which is unfortunate because Seton Hall won in Missouri.

I forsee the big10 folding basketball

Yeah, probably. They might lose @NW, @Nebraska or @ MSU, but I doubt all 3 considering they won at Illinois. Those are the only losses I can see. All their losses are Q1/projected tournament teams. My guess is 16-4. Obviously, we'll never know, so we can disagree.

But aren't the Gophers one of the teams that "blow". I'm just trying to figure out how the TOP of the Big East got cleaned up by the Big Ten's most mediocre? Unless of course.....the Big East is even worse. Seton Hall just had to start playing conference games to start winning. 1-4 against P5 teams in the non-con.....and then started winning once conference games rolled around.

Definitely need to fade the Big East outside of UConn in the tournament. Bad teams just beating up on one another. :ROFLMAO:

3rd place in the Big Ten this year loses 6 or 7 games at the very least. I'll be generous and say that Marquette would go 14-6.

Nova lost 5 straight in the big east. Think they were beating Maryland by 30 at one point

I know the gophers have unfortunately not been a march factor for a bit so you clearly dont know how metrics work.

But theres a reason that all .500 in conference BE teams are on the tourney bubble/in and a shit ton of Big10 teams are not even close to the bubble with same conference records

Spoiler....because the BE metrics out of conference plus their parity in league has been stronger.

Yeah, and that team is probably Wisconsin. Who can't win away from home(outside of MSU). Marquette has beaten 3 top 50 teams away from home already. Marquette is really good and would finish 2nd in the league probably. I can't see really anyway Illinois or Wisconsin finishes ahead of them.

Except when they play the Big Ten? Hey....don't get mad at me. I'm just looking at the results.....and it looks like the best teams in that league lost to the Big Ten.....including the teams that "blow". So would Rutgers or Iowa be the third best team in the Big East? Hard to tell.

Easier to win in the Big East it would seem. They'd maybe finish fifth in the Big Ten now that I think about it.

Guess we'll see how many each league gets and how they perform. I guess according to you Purdue would have finished 3rd in the NEC last year because they lost to the 2nd place team?

Tougher to win in the BIG East. Its the only place Uconn loses.

Creighton didnt lose to the big 10. They do what no big 10 team can. Wax a Nebraska team that never makes the tournament on their home floor.

Talking about fading in march. Big 10 hasnt won a title since Im assuming you were born. That seems to be the easy money.

Ill say it for the last time, ever retort you try there is always a quick rebuttal off your logic. All you are doing is inadvertently making the Gophers look worse. Is that your goal?

Because again, if the Big 10 did hold their own like the BE/big 12/SEC then the Gophers would not have 6 league wins and only 1 of them in the NET top 50

Ha shit, for all the soft balls hes tossed I didnt even think of that one.

Hes exhibit A for why the transitive property as the basis of an argument will always make you look dumb.

He also appears to be the poster child of someone who hasnt been able to follow bracketology for years.

Throwing out a lot of straw men to distract from the fact that the top of the Big East is 1-4 against the Big Ten this year.

Don't blame me because your glorified mid-major can't hack it against a conference that you contend to be weak.

Weird that you straw man Creighton out of the conversation. You know since they are the 3rd highest rated big east team metrically.

Oh, thats right....because the BE is so good they have actually dropped lower in league play.

LOL

That Purdue game doesn’t actually count because their big man sat part of the first half with foul trouble. Not a real loss.

Purdue has basically given the Big 10 a couple extra bids by losing to NW and Nebraska. Without them, I don't think either would be projected to make it. I'd still be worried about Nebraska making it in. Need to win a road game. Which has been difficult for them.
