Wenger Gone

Big hire potential and it opens two spots at Rush End and Special teams. Maybe they bring in more of a DT specialist. Will be interesting to see what happens here in the hiring.

Fixing another broken leg on the Gopher football stool. A new QB, a new DC, and new ST coordinator - I think at least 2 of those 3 will be a noticeable and very likely upgrade, perhaps all 3. I like that we are trying to address some obvious shortcomings.

I may be wrong but I’ve alwsys thought he was PJ’s puppet and merely following orders.
If so I hope PJ makes changes with new hire
That description may fit all the coaches - explaining why we have 3 or 4 new guys every year.

Good kicking and punting for the most part of his tenure. Awful return game. Is this PJ dictating that? I’m guessing yes, because that’s Tressel ball. I’m fine with the move but it at least gives me pause…why do they all want out? (Rossi, KC, now him) Something seems to make you wonder that it’s not all unicorns and rainbows.

You're assuming this was Wenger's choice. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. You're assuming money wasn't a factor for Rossi and KC.

Burns claimed on a PaaS that he never actually saw Wegner working with any DL and implied that being in his title was just so Fleck could pay him more.

Joyner has TONS OF POTENTIAL. But, he is underdeveloped and undisciplined ( 2 offsides in the bowl game).

Smith has potential but is extremely undisciplined. Watch the bowl game as he gives up the edge on 5 10+ yard plays to his side.

Our kick/punt return game has been horrible.

I think this coaching change can only make us better.

People here clearly think Wenger was working with our pass rushers!

While not disagreeing … you don’t possibly think that Wenger was out there coaching the kickers on how to kick the ball? That’s a really specialized skill.

Is this a resignation, or a "you've been here awhile, you can leave on your own so I don't have to fire you"?

That would be my guess. Pursue other opportunities usually means you don't have a job yet, but we'll make it look good for you.

Special teams were better than the offense and defense this year, which is not hard to do. Sort of in line with defense and offense in that it was conservative and did not commit many penalties.

I hate it when someone loses their job. Having said that, this was long overdue. The only coaching position in the country that was in a more obvious need of change was Brian Ferentz at Iowa.

Let’s hope PJ makes a great hire.
