Shooter: Technically Garcia could play for Minnesota for three more seasons after this one if he were to use his COVID year exemption.

Per Shooter:

—Technically, 6-foot-11 sophomore Dawson Garcia, the star in the Gophers’ upset at Ohio State on Thursday, could play for Minnesota for three more seasons after this one if he were to use his COVID year exemption.

Go Gophers!!

Two for sure, think he played too much at UNC to get a waiver for that year if it came down to that

I feel pretty confident we’ll have Garcia next season. Would like him to stick around for two more seasons, but I think 2023-24 is all we can reasonably expect.
Next year would be nice. The way Battle is playing, I would think he'll be a Gopher too?
Ben will freak out with too many guys who can play though....especially adding a guard or two.

I expect both Battle and Garcia to be back. Not sure why anyone wouldn't want either one back despite some struggles this season. It's Ben's job to get additional pieces (more guards please) to go along with those two guys and the current FR class + Evans/Christie. Would expect some roster attrition somewhere.

Shooter trippin, he is a sophomore because he already got an additional year of eligibility due to covid. Gladly take 2 more seasons after this one.
him sticking around for 2 more years after this season is probably the difference in us being a legit threat and us still trying to rebuild this thing

Battle for sure, but I still wonder about Garcia. If he continues to put up good numbers, it would not surprise me if he tested the NBA draft waters.

Fully expect him to test and fully expect him to find out he should stay in school. We look at it selfishly as fans but most of us have no idea what these guys are facing as far as how vital is a paycheck to them--or their families. Nice to go from seeing posts about how some folks wanted Garcia gone after this year to having speculation hoping he's back for another year. We are a fickle bunch on GH.

lol. so true.

Technically Shooter can retire at anytime and nobody would notice.

He’s listed as a Sophomore. He’s really breaking news here.
