St. Olaf gave the Gophers way too much bulletin board material.
 

Shouldn't be too alarmed from a scrimmage, especially when missing our two best players, but I'm a little more worried about our SG spot after watching. Cooper will be fine at the point, but Henley definitely isn't ready to start, and Samuels looks like a depth piece off the bench. I hope Carrington is ready to have a Gabe-like freshman year.
 

I thought the freshman looked better than I expected, they are all athletic and are going to improve as the season progresses. The more playing time they get now is really going to add to the teams depth in the B1G part of the schedule.

We probably won't shoot too much better in any game all year. Throw out Cooper's 3 for 10 and all the other guys are very efficient.
 

16-point win. Game never really in doubt. Clearly missing Battle, his shooting will make this team look completely different. Garcia and Carrington will also be big difference makers when they get back. Great freshman class, bright future.

Thank you for the link and I didn't see the game but stats say:
St Olaf had the lead 27% of the game and cut it to 6 with a couple minutes to go...on paper that doesn't look good when you consider St Olaf is a middling D3 team.
I coached in the MIAC....it is a long way from DI.

Battle, Garcia, Carrington will absolutely help but we shot great tonight (stats again) (and I'm guessing tonite was above average shooting for these guys) but yet we struggled mightily to put a D3 to bed.
I do agree the freshmen have potential....just not sure the result tells me we'll be fine versus a quality team. Very much like Christie and Evans with this group of young guys..

But, I have not seen Battle, Garcia and Carrington play together and if they could all play up to press clippings...hey, we can be good. Two best players for sure...and the third leading scorer?
Ya, we will look dramatically different.
No worries good? Not there yet for me.

The 27% was probably just the first 27% of the game. Game was tied at half, Gophers went on an early run in the 2nd and it was fairly comfortable from there.

There were definitely some moments that were frustrating to watch (missed free throws especially ~50%, some sloppy ball handling, defense at times made it too easy and allowed open 3s.) , but "struggle mightly" is not how I would describe the game. Lacking effort maybe, showed their youth for sure, but also played some good basketball at times.

We'll learn a lot more about the team in the next couple weeks.
