3 of 4 wild card rounds went to the road teams (lower seeds). Home teams went just 3-6.

Next round is only best of 5 so could easily see some more upsets. I'd like to see Seattle continue to do well.

Nice that Seattle will get to play at least 1 home game in this run.

About the only playoff action I saw was after golfing Saturday and watching the Mariner's rally in the 7th and 8th inning against the Jays. Without the sound in the bar, I was wondering if crowd noise played a role in not hearing Springer/Bichette calling one another off on the blooper. At first I thought Bichette got the worse of the crash.

Also saw a couple innings of Padres/Mets last night, but it was already 4-0 and gave up on it shortly.

Go Dodgers! That is all I have to add right now.

Home field is kind of meaningless, especially now that the stupid ghost runner rule is dead for the year. Good for Seattle. Won a playoff game in their first appearance in many, many years. Meanwhile, the Twins had 18 bites at the apple and couldn't pierce the skin. Great. Just great.

I didn't watch the playoffs yesterday, quite frankly I forgot.

Just saw the Mariners/Astros highlights. Ms...bullpen. Uffda. Epic.

Former Twins Doofus, Donaldson with a baserunning gaffe.

Phillies-Braves is going to be delayed by weather. Start time, TBA.

Guardians vs Yankees Game 2 washed out tonight, so no prime time baseball.

Now everyone will be forced to watch the Guardians vs Bears barn burner.

Woops. I hear they might be changing their name to the PI's.

Both are bad names and interchangeable for Washington's NFL/Cleveland's MLB teams. Actually.....Cleveland Commanders is an improvement on that side, imo.

They should have. Think someone trademarked the name and the Dolan family didn't want to buy it from them.
For all the complaining about the Pohlads, the Cleveland ownership has been embarrassingly cheap. But they have a competent front office who can identify good pitchers whose arms aren't about to blow up and an excellent manager. The Twins spend twice as much but have neither.

Cleveland should have been the Spiders.
The Cleveland Spiders would have made sense from a marketing standpoint. Feels like it would have been much easier to sell that gear instead of the Guards.

Interesting history with the Spiders, as it was the name for the Cleveland NL Club in the 1890s and where Cy Young got his start. In 1898 he won 25 games for them. The following year, the entire team won only 20, and with 134 losses is going to be a futility record never approached.

Before the 1899 season the Spiders owners bought the St Louis franchise, which would later be the Cardinals. They transferred the majority of their talent (including Young) to St Louis which they thought was a better market. Soon after the Major Leagues barred owners from having stakes in multiple franchises. Yeah, conflict of interest. They folded before 1900.

Speaking of Cy Young and the Cardinals, RIP Bruce Sutter who won the award that bears his name, while with the Cubs. 1st pitcher to enter the HoF without ever starting a game.

Yep, just spending more isn't going to solve a lot if they can't get better at developing within. If they can start developing like Cleveland or Tampa, and then also have a payroll in the middle somewhere, they could really go on a run. The most successful teams are able to do both.

The 5th and 6th seeds are one win away from meeting in the NLCS. Should be an interesting day in MLB.

Bye bye Braves. Loved hearing the Philly crowd taunting Atlanta by doing the tomahawk chant.

Unfortunately, M's fans just got the 1 game, though a double header of sorts going 18 innings. Didn't get to see their team put up a run, falling 1-0.

Glad I flipped on the Guards/Yanks game in the bottom of the 9TH. Cleveland rocks!
