Despite being a much better team than at the end of the Lucia era, the Gophers have not been good against MN teams under Motzko and those that trash-talk "4th best team in MN" still have some supporting data. It needs to be better, and this roster vs. the somewhat depleted Mankato roster should really have potential for a sweep. No excuses. Get it done.

Tickets sales don't look great for Friday, but I'm very excited to also head down to Mankato on Saturday for what should be a sold out arena. It may be the only way to watch the game as no TV has been announced for the second game.

Motzko's record vs. MN teams
L 5-1 vs. Mankato (4/7/22)
L 2-1 @ UMD (10/23/21)
L 5-3 vs. UMD (10/22/21)
OTW 4-3 @ SCSU (10/16/21)
L 2-1 vs. SCSU (10/15/21)
L 4-0 vs. Mankato (3/28/21)
W 4-1 vs. SCSU (12/29/19)
W 5-2 vs. Bemidji (12/28/19)
L 2-0 @ UMD (10/26/19)
L 5-2 vs. UMD (10/25/19)
L 2-1 @ Mankato (11/3/18)
L 5-1 vs. Mankato (11/2/18)
W 7-4 vs. UMD (10/7/18)
T 1-1 @ UMD (10/6/18)

Overall vs. MN teams: 3-9-2
Record vs. Mankato: 0-4

Ecstatic with a sweep
Happy with a win/tie
Slightly disappointed with a split
Getting swept is unacceptable

Think with Mankato's recent dominant teams they might start to get a little younger? Think again...

2002s:
Minnesota 3
Mankato 2

2003s and 2004s:
Minnesota 8
Mankato 0...

Freshman class number of post HS grad junior seasons:
0 - MN 4
1 - MN 3
2 - Kato 4, MN 4
3 - Kato 4

Get rid of the third year of juniors post HS graduation or limit it to D3 hockey. It's not necessary.

According to this article and my TV schedule the Saturday game is on Fox 9+

The Saturday rematch begins at 6 p.m. CT at the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center in Mankato. It is being televised by KEYC-TV in southern Minnesota, with Fox9+ picking up the feed in the Twin Cities.

Yeah I don't blame MSU for taking advantage of the rules in place but it's a complete joke.

Awesome night at Mariucci, and a great performance from our guys. MSU did their usual slow down the game and muck it up style but once we started putting it together it was clear that we are a much better team.

A missed opportunity tonight to bolster their resume. That major penalty really threw a wrench in our offense. If we had scored on that power play it would've been a different story, but it just sapped our energy and the Mavs pounced on us.

Let's just say this team would be at a different level with Lucius, Broz, and Cruikshank...

22 could be a 3rd/4th liner and yet gets to weigh down the Knies line.

I feel like two weeks into the season Strobel has solidified his spot into the lineup and no longer needs to be splitting games. Among the Freshman forwards he easily brings the most physicality and has also created plenty of scoring chances. I expect to see his name on the scoring sheet more and more as the season progresses.

Agreed he should be in the lineup.
Knies-Huglen-Lamb
Pitlick-Cooley-Snuggerud
Strobel-Nelson-Nevers/Brodzinski
Kurth-Pinoniemi-Nevers/Brodzinski

Also think the D should get down to 6 playing with consistent partners at some point. Staudacher/Fish deserve at least a chance to get back in over Thomas and MIttelstadt with how raw those two are.

Agreed on a consistent 6, but I'm ok with the idea of developing Mittelstadt and Thomas as they have way more upside than Staudacher if we want to make a championship run.

I love Fish but no way he should sniff this lineup barring a terrible run of injuries.
