All Things Jaxon Howard Recruitment Thread (Class of 2023, Gophers Have Offered)

Maybe some but not as much recently. It’s not like the gophers wear the same jerseys every game. They aren’t pumping in NIL money. I think the cool new uniform every game thing is kind of played out there and they definitely aren’t at the top for that stuff anymore.

I guess they elevated them and now they are a top 4 for now PAC team

Bucky Irving left the Gophers for Oregon specifically for the NIL money they are offering.

It's not just fancy uniforms. Phil Knight has pumped a TON of money into Oregon.

Good for him. He’ll get $50k to sit on the bench. I hope it works out for him.
Read a few articles on depth chart and one of high school rankings. Hes 2nd to last on every projection post spring game/practices.

I think he’ll regret this long term which sucks bc here he would probably have been drafted, with how loaded the ducks are at RB. I dont think he ever starts there

Precisely. Not saying he can’t be a superstar but chasing a small pay day will ruin many careers

Could work out well for us long term if Bucky warms the bench. Can’t be a bad thing to have as an example to possibly discourage others from bolting.

You don't think Nike has helped Oregon football?

When we played OSU few years back - I did the daily double and went to the first half of the Nebby-Oregon game and ended up tailgating in the alumni tent as a guy I met along the way saw my Gopher gear and admonished me for being very lost - I returned fire and viola I was in.

He told me how Chip Kelly could basically walk into his office and ask Phil Knight for anything within reason and get it - Phil spent tons of time at practice and loved all the free advertising he received from Oregon players making Nike cool for another generation. That’s why he’s Phil Knight.

They also got permission to use non nutz Daffy Duck’s image as their mascot because they asked Walt Disney and he licensed the image to them.

There are that’s types of stories from Okie State with T Boon and Maryland with the UA guy as well.

Dude they were the PAC 12 for an incredible stretch where they won it outright or their division 6 years straight (2009-2014) and played in and lost 2 NC games.

Nike has done more harm to Oregon than good. They've completely captured a public institution. It's despicable.
?

I don't think professors and researchers at U of Oregon, give a damn what company makes the football uniforms.

Their salaries are based largely by the tuition payments of students and by funding appropriated by the state legislature of Oregon.

I did the same thing. Was a fun time. Stadium was a little underwhelming I thought. Was a long day with an early flight home Sunday.

where is Howard this weekend? Hopefully it’s raining.

That 2009 title should help them recruit!

Thanks for taking the bait kiddo - this is from their most recent coach - see they won their division twice with him as well -

We ALL get it, you don't have lots of opinions and few facts and won't ever admit you're wrong/mistaken - CONGRATS Kiddo as that it ELITE nonsense

Pretty sure he was referring to the practice facilities, which are by far the nicest in the county, and funded almost entirely by Phil Knight/Nike.

Looks like Michigan today, LSU on the 21st and Miami on the 24th. Looks like good weather in Ann Arbor.
To ask again:

are recruiting visits no longer multiple-day events? They used to be, back in the day (some day...).

Are they now only single day events? Obviously the recruit + guests are at least going to want to show up the day before, stay in a hotel, be ready to go early-ish in the morning. And hopefully if it is single-day they don't want it to end so early as to make it back to the airport by 5pm for a flight, I would think? So another hotel stay the night of, with flight whenever the following day.
