All Things 2021-2022 Minnesota Wild In-Season Thread

Going into the third period...

Calling it: next goal wins this series.

Only one player showed up in a very critical game. Disappointing but not surprising.

I just can't believe this is how you follow-up the best regular season in franchise history. Why can't our teams show up in the playoffs?

Wild will lose this series in St Louis. Yet another first round exit for a Minnesota team.

If Fleury starts game 6, I’m gonna be pissed. Terrible/awesome spot Talbot will be in. Please, Mr. Everson. It’s time for it.

Talbot should have started Game 2 to get him into the mix. I'm guessing now they'll just see it through with Fleury.

Defensemen are just woefully lacking, IMO. Spurgeon is not a big guy and doesn't have a ton of presence in the D-zone, Dumba just plain does a lot of stupid shit. Lots of puck-watching last night all around.

Dean doesn’t like changing lines let alone taking out a goalie. I agree with Iowa Talbot should have started game 2, but that ship has sailed. I don’t see any way he starts game 6 now.

You're right. Definitely not all Fleury's fault. Just think making a change can sometimes give a team a boost.

It's really disappointing to go 1-2 at home in the series.

actually, the most "Minnesota" thing possible would be this:

Wild wins game 6, setting up a 7th game back in MN. and they drop the 7th game, losing their 3rd home game of the series.

That would be the most "Minnesota" thing possible.

I don't really think that will happen, but if it did, Twitter might explode.

After leading 2-0 in game 7.

Holy cow. That is me to a T. Except for the hair part at the end.
The best part is after this series is over you can do it all again when the twins are swept by the Yankees again in the wild card round. It is just a repetitive circle of shit.

You are preaching to the choir brother. I wonder if they do actually make it to the Layoffs (That's the Twins version of it).
Of course, they will make it just to do exactly what you said.

In some cases this is why i think the NHL playoff format is kind of a joke. Both MN and St. Louis have two of the best regular season records in the league and they have to play each other in the first round of the playoffs. Good way to reward teams for a great job on the previous 84.

I am fine with the format, I like the greater chance of playing a Division Rival in the first 2 rounds. You want to play a lesser team, then win the Division.

I would be OK it they went back to seeding it 1-8. It would kind of suck for the West Coast games with the time zone change, but they are playing at 8:40 PM every weeknight game anyway, so moot point there.

Cam Talbot between the pipes tonight, per The Athletic.

Excellent. Hope he can shake off the rust quickly. If he wins, he will, of course, play game 7. Then, if they can get by that, now we have an actual 2 goalie rotation we could use. One step at a time. Skaters need to play better and I hope they insert Bjugstad on the 4th line too - that's overdue as well.

First and second lines remain status quo. Possibly move Greenway off 3rd line, but doubtful. Defense needs to play better overall. Especially Dumba. They are interchangeable at the bottom end there, so I have no comment on that.

That powerplay early in the 2nd was so pathetic.

They’re ready for the off-season
