Curtis Dunalp transfer to Rutgers

Butgers, that is an interesting choice of schools. Thought he would want one of the Florida schools.

Interesting. Not sure what to think about this. Good or bad for him. Good because he found a landing spot. Bad maybe because on paper he should have found a better spot. Maybe as Writer said his loyalty could have been brought in to question. Either way, good luck. Hope nothing but the best.

Did Joe Harasymiak whisper to Rutgers about Curtis Dunlap? On second thought, PJ Fleck was with Schiano on his previous stint. Maybe it was PJF who helped CD find a home.

I think he let his emotions get the best of him instead of sucking it up and turning a negative into a positive through hard work. He was vacillating before and changed his mind again.

Yeah, it's hard to go through difficult situations with guys who have quit multiple times. He is a talented guy but I am happy to move on. I hope he turns it around at Rutgers and is able to capitalize on his talent.

Best of luck to him. He didn't take criticism from his OL Room well. I hope that there are life lessons learned there. Moving on may be the best move for him for a fresh start.

What criticism was sent his way from the OL room?

FWIH, it was his lackluster play. The BGSU game in particular? The BGSU game was on September 25, and the Purdue game was on October 2. He quit on his teammates by entering the Transfer Portal on October 16.

He is fortunate to land with Rutgers. Quitting on your team is not a good thing to have on your resume.

That’s not what you said though. You said he had issues with criticisms from his OL room

He missed out on all that $50k OL loot from Texas...

I guess I'll zag here and defend the kid. There's a lot of smugness in this thread.

He was part of the U's most fun and successful offense/season in years in 2019. He came from IMG and was (probably) indirectly or directly told by coaches that he and Faalele would be cornerstones of that line for years. He then had a bad stretch and was benched. For a young kid to have that happen to him, then to watch his peers from the sideline go out and succeed, it has to be frustrating, embarrassing, etc. These are just kids

You don't know what really goes on behind the scenes - maybe he felt like the coaches gave some other kids more slack than him (after watching Gopher football for years, I will say that there has been many times where certain O-linemen are playing well past their expiration date and given too many chances) maybe he felt out of place, I don't know. Or maybe he really did just make an immature and silly move to pout and leave the team.

He may have just gone to the place where he thought/knew he could get the most playing time. Good Luck to him.
