Nnamdi Adim-Madumere in the portal as well

Was working at TE and didn't see any time yet.

I actually thought this kid was going to be a tier one receiver, I hope he can accomplish that with his next team.
It never quite gelled for him. I wonder if starting in the Ciarocca system and then moving to the Sanford system set him back at all.

He came with a lot of promise at 6' 4" with a good high school resume. For one reason or another, he got passed by other players. College-level competition can be brutal when everyone else is equal or better talent-wise. He may thrive under a different system.

Best of luck to him.

Not surprised by this one. He will get on the field somewhere—has size and speed. But not here. Too many WRs ahead and coming in. Sounds like a great kid. Best of luck to him.

There might be numbers but after CRAB there isn't anybody with a stranglehold on playing time based on production.

At the beginning of the 2021 season, we had 12 WRs on scholarship, yet had no depth to speak of beyond 4 regulars. Brady and Adim are gone, but there are still a lot of scholie WRs who will never take a snap at WR. Kind of ironic that this is one of the positions that Fleck hasn't guessed well at with several commits.

Pretty much all the wrs are underclassmen, so little early to judge.

Huh? You aren't going to play everyday you recruit. Having 3-4-5 good receivers is unheard of at Minnesota and really most schools. Guys might be good but not as good as others. You have no idea what the depth looks like behind a few guys who played regularly.

I thought this guy was gunna be something... His size alone... Really wish it could of worked out as we need a tall wr...

I know that a true freshman, Brady Boyd, played a lot of snaps at WR this year, and that several WRs who have been in the program 2 or 3 years have hardly seen the field. That tells me something. Hope I’m wrong about WR depth. More than willing to admit it if Brockington, Emelien or someone else gets a lot of play next season.

Boyd didn't play a lot of snaps. He caught two balls and I think got a target in 4. You're overthinking this one Grandpa. We don't need 8 receivers.

Boyd did play a lot of snaps. He was a blocker.
Well not a lot of meaningful receiver snaps. He had I think 4 targets but those stats aren’t easy to find with his bio off the gopher website

His targets don’t reflect the snaps he took. I don’t have exact count. I’ll try and see if I can get his snaps. I guess since WRs never get injured or nicked up, so no need for depth.

I haven't seen anybody mention that this guy had an Alabama offer (in addition to TAMU, Mizzou, and half a dozen other P5 programs). I took it as a sign of our progress that we were getting commits with multiple SEC offers. Too bad it didn't work out, and good luck to him

I think in Nnamdi's case, he grew early and had a lot of interest earlier in his high school days. I think that interest waned and is part of the reason he ended up in MN.

He ended up being a tweener. Too big and not fast enough to be a WR, and not big enough to be a true TE.

Kind of weird to leave the Gophers and be excited about an offer from Mankato, right?

Again reminds me of Abner Dubar. Left in May 2021, didn’t play anywhere last year. Now excited to be visiting Abeline Christian.

Nnamdi was an OT when he started high school football. I don't recall when he switched to WR but he was extremely raw when he arrived to Minnesota.

When you line up 6-8 OL and TE's you only get 1-2 WR's on the field. We shall see what happens with KC back and less experienced OL.

I've been disappointed as well with some of the Taller WR recruits not developing or seeing the field, but they are still young.

Autman-Bell is a 50/50 guy and really good
Wright is good and hopefully will be counted on more next year.
Brown-Stephens is fastest on team
Daniel Jackson plays when healthy
Emilien has seen the field
Boyd played and Transfered.

That is 6 WR's of depth to play 3 spots and more often than not, 1-2 WR spots based on formation.

All other guys are Freshmen or Sophomores.

Would still love to know how many kids don't end up finding new homes but that info seems tough to come by. Just using the portal tool on 247 and looking at last year, there are 12 MN players listed as transfers and 7 have a new school listed by them.

These 5 still show a ? as to their future school.
Dubar
Silver
McNaboe
Thompson
Robinson

So for us that would be roughly 60% of the transfers finding a new home. At least according to 247. But some of the guys who didn't find homes were fringe guys at best.

For this year so far we have 13 going out with 7 having landed a new school. Ky Thomas will be a slam dunk to get a good offer somewhere. The other 5 without new schools so far are: Clark, Annexstad, Adim-Madumere, Mapakaitolo, and McGill. Would seem like the majority of these guys will end up somewhere, even if it means dropping down in level some.

Great points. What would your take be if Mo didn't get hurt this year and elected to follow Tanner's path to come back for his 6th year, and Ky then decides to enter the portal? Do you think Ky would, having not played a single down this season, still be a slam dunk to get a good offer somewhere?

Based on my sleuthing, I think you'll see ZA go to Illinois State with his brother likely following. Still digging on the others.

I don't follow recruiting enough to know his backstory...but yeah I was wondering if that was the case. I take visits as the most serious level (and time sensitive) of interest from a program. Still signals to me that there could have been upside there. And shows how much can change in just a year or two of development!

Just look at basketball recruiting from this last year -- Ahjany Lee had offers from Kansas, Florida, Stanford, Iowa, Minnesota...then went to St. Thomas because that's where his committable offer was his senior year.

If Ky had been forced to ride the bench all year common sense would say his pool of suiters would be significantly smaller and probably not contain many power 5 schools. However, he was pretty highly regarded out of high school so I would think the schools that recruited him hard would definitely take a look at least.

But obviously he is in a much better position to snag a desirable offer from somewhere given that he has proven he can be a good back at the college level.

I agree with you. Having game film, especially game film showing he can compete at the B1G level is a huge plus for the guys hitting the portal.
