NDSU (9) and UND (4) really make a home in MN. Only saw one kid to SDSU or USD. St. Thomas reports 11 Minnesotan's. Duluth looks like the most for the Northern Sun.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but anyone know how many of the FBS guys had an offer from the Gophers? I know they wanted Hasert and a couple of those BBall players. Others?

I believe Heyer was offered.

Why is there an * next to Ivy League who doesn’t give scholarships but there isn’t one next to St Thomas who doesn’t give scholarships?
And ivy doesn’t give them, but unless you are wealthy… you get a lot of needs based aid. It easily can be a full scholarship equivalent. It isn’t sports specific but the money is still green.

We are always going to lose a guy or two to the Stanfords of the world - probably heard via recruiting channels of his general intent and may have made a "soft" offer, but did not pursue too heavily (his "visit" was almost 2 years ago)

A scholarship to Stanford is not something anyone should ever turn down.

Also, if I lived in Moorhead, the last place I'd go to school would be NDSU. I'd get as far from that town as possible.

Lol, and they play in a terrible stadium. South Dakota State did it the right way.
Yes and no. The Fargodome is without question an awful building. But the school didn't build it - it's owned by the city and is technically not on campus. Which is probably why it's never been updated.

But SDSU playing in an outdoor stadium in this climate, when the FCS playoffs go deep into December, also isn't great either. They are the only of the Dakota four that plays outdoors.

NDSU does know how to develop players.
12 NDSU players in NFL Rosters right now.

Didn't Emmitt Johnson sign with Nebraska?
Right, he was on KARE 11 as going to Nebraska. I saw him play this fall. I was hoping he'd be a Gopher. Great vision and an explosive first burst. He was dynamic.

Does my heart good to see a few St. Thomas signees... Looking forward to the day that St. Thomas gets asked to leave the Pioneer League and has to step up their game and join the MVC. I figure by the end of their provisional period, it should happen...

Maybe I won't have to see a couple of dozen players from MN on the NDSU roster each season, then.

I thought the FM area was a great undergrad college town. Coeds from three different schools...
It was a great place to go to college. And Fargo is a really nice city (Moorhead is a cesspool however). That said, if I lived in that miserable climate my whole life, I'd have wanted to go anywhere else to play football.

Me too. I am lookin forward to the day they beat the u in all men’s sports.

Really? I thought they would give scholarships just fewer than FBS level. Do all of the teams in their conference not give scholarships? I wouldn't think they would get many players without scholarships.

St. Thomas for now, is playing football in the Pioneer League. These are D1 FCS schools that don't offer scholarships for football. UST does offer scholarships for their other sports, which are all D1 now. If they eventually move to the MVFC, they will need to offer scholarships. It's mostly private schools and some, like Butler, play big time basketball. There is one public school - Morehead State in Kentucky (not to be confused with MSU Moorhead in MN).

I don't think any of the Ivies are allowed to offer athletic scholarships, but realistically, unless you are super rich, anyone going to an Ivy is getting significant financial help.

I don’t think UST has any short term desires to bankroll a scholarship football program
