With Nebraska on a bye week, Husker football coach Scott Frost made his lone scheduled media appearance of the week Wednesday morning.

He covered ample ground. A few takeaways:
1. Response to Fleck: Minnesota coach P.J. Fleck would be a good radio talk-show host.
He makes unnecessary statements that tend to anger, or even insult, people.
Frost, though, doesn't seem particularly bothered by what one could interpret as an insult by Fleck. After Minnesota defeated Nebraska 30-23 on Saturday, Fleck said it was a matter of "culture'' defeating "skill.''

Nebraska head football coach Scott Frost speaks after practice Wednesday at Memorial Stadium.

So, Fleck essentially was saying that Frost had better players but that the "culture'' Fleck built overcame a dramatic difference in talent. "I don't make a habit of listening to those press conferences," Frost, the fourth-year Husker coach, said Wednesday. "Our culture has come 100 miles. I love where our culture is right now.

"I think they have some skilled players, too," Frost added. "So I'm surprised to hear that."
Fleck probably wasn't boasting about his program's culture Sept. 25 after it lost to Bowling Green.

Frost said he hadn't previously heard of Fleck's postgame comments from Saturday. That surprises me.

It's interesting that Fleck is telling everyone that Nebraska has more "skill'' than Minnesota. After all, it's Fleck's job to acquire more skill than NU. Perhaps he's referring to the loss of running backs Mo Ibrahim and Trey Potts to injury.

Fleck has the upper hand on Frost at the moment with a 3-1 record against the Nebraska coach. It's not exactly a friendly situation. Remember, Frost in July mentioned a certain coach's "sloganeering'' during Big Ten Media Days.

It's possible Fleck wanted to highlight his program's culture as a way to sell himself to higher-profile programs looking for a head coach.

I don't think his act would play particularly well in a blue-blood program along the lines of, say, USC or LSU.

Frost probably wouldn't mind if a school in another league gave Fleck a chance.

Cry more Sipple. This is hilarious.

Fleck just taking up permanent residence squarely inside Frost brain. I bet he flinches every time he hears the word "row" or "boat".

It's a mess of salty tears masquerading as a column. He hits so many nonsensical "points" that it borders on genuine comedy.

"He makes unnecessary statements that tend to anger, or even insult, people."

What? There are people who don't like Fleck's enthusiasm and his "sloganeering".....but "unnecessary statements"? It's not Fleck's fault if people get bent out of shape by the way he conducts himself. lol @ angering....or even INSULTING, people. Who the hell is he insulting by saying "Row the Boat"? Using his mantra for good around the community and getting his players involved in charitable endeavors. Insulting?

And let's not forget.....Frost over the past few years has notoriously thrown his team under the bus. Saying things about guys wearing hoodies, how his team didn't show up, how he doesn't call the defense.....believe he once said that his team didn't have a kicker. When the Gophers lose, Fleck puts the responsibility on himself. That's the sign of a good coach. No wonder Frost is failing. He's jealous and petty.

Dear Lincoln-Star newspaper sports writer,
Ha OK...First of all you have no idea what you're talking about. You and the entire Nebraska program and it's fans are STILL living in the past. Hey it's 2021 and your team actually really does suck. It's not 1995-96 anymore. It's time to give it up the 'go blackshirt' shit and re-invent your program. For heavens' sake you look like fools. Your program has gone downhill and believe it or not Minnesota and the rest of the Big Ten thinks that Nebraska is nothing special. You might want to take your 1990's era Starter jackets and put them in the cedar chest for fond memories.

Like I told the Nebraska guys that sat next to me on Saturday..."you guys need a new coach". You know what...? They both agreed.

The Nebraska folks think that they are still top tier...it's time for you to be really honest with yourselves and stop talking shit about other coaches and programs because clearly your coach and program do not 'cut-the-mustard'.

Good Luck against Purdue, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Fleck would be boring as a talk show host, don’t know what he is talking about with all these comments that anger and insult people. I feel like he rarely says anything controversial at all or even particularly interesting. I get why some of our crusty fans and other team’s fans don’t like him, but not sure why a lot of coaches don’t.

I'm guessing Frost is around for about another month in Lincoln, he should be advised to save his mental energy for the want ads.

Fleck lives rent free in both Frost and Brohm's heads. Unfortunately he's not serving bacon because he hasn't figured out how to break into Ferentz's hog barn.

Pretty obvious ferentz Brohm and frost don't care for fleck

Frost is deflecting attention away from his bucket of feedlot s#%t.

Scott Frost is a piece of excrement... Back in 1995, he hid in a closet when Lawrence Phillips broke into Frost's own apartment and assaulted Phillips' ex-girlfriend and then dragged her down a 2 flights of stairs.

Frost's content of character is sorely lacking, to be sure.
