2021-2022 College Football Coach Hire/Fire Thread

Nick Rolovich is not real smart.... Arrogance? Convictions? The state of Washington may have the most unique employment policies in regards to the pandemic, but to use a Religious reason better be something provable to use. Otherwise, he just made this about himself. He didn't even address his team on the way out.... Not setting himself up to be hirable anywhere else.

Maybe, you know, people have higher priorities than their jobs and/or sports. If he was convicted then it's impressive that he stood by his convictions even if it is likely to cost him big time, likely will lose more than his job. More people are starting to stand up and say we will not put up with this bullsh*t anymore.

Your employer can tell you to do a lot of things. You don’t have to work for them. If my boss said I have to wear a top hat every day or I’m fired, I’d start shopping for top hats.

That's one approach. Let's be honest, we aren't talking about apparel here. I think when it's all said and done, people will come to realize that what we are talking about is attempted murder for anyone who tries to force this jab on another.

I think you're on the wrong forum my man.

This the first list ever to NOT include PJ?

The counter arguement would be that when you lead a team - you do what it takes to continue to lead that team. If you can't do that, then maybe you aren't part of the solution any longer. This turns into politics and personal beliefs of 1 person vs. what is best for the team he leads. The decision was made by him. That's a 3.2 Million dollar decision. Different strokes for different folks, but colleges want coaches that are employable. He isn't....

Understandable

Odd. I would have thought Hugh Jass would have made the list ahead of Hugh Freeze.

Not sure why James Franklin is the favorite at LSU. Unlikely he would make that move.

Moves of that type are often rumored, but seldom happen. They make for nice Twitter and message board fodder but more likely it's a head coach from a less prestigious program or a coordinator.

LSU is a good job but not a great one with incredible pressure to win and being stuck in the same division as Bama and a host of other difficult teams.

Say whatever you need to say to try and justify his silliness...

The fact that he didn't address his team on the way out is unforgivable.

Half of those coaches…why would they leave? Franklin, that makes no sense. Fisher? He’s already at A &M. I should have become a reporter, half of these folks put zero effort into creating an actual tangible list.

Oddsmakers aren't trying to predict who the next coach will be. They use names people know to draw bets, to make money.

Carson Palmer was on the Dan Patrick show today, said he has been involved in discussions and that there is no favorite but watch Mike Tomin. When Dan said that was breaking news, he seemed a bit freaked like he leaked something he wasn't supposed to. I don't follow why he would want to go to college after all this time though. If he wants out of Pittsburgh, he will have his pick of other NFL jobs, including the Vikings if they move on.

Seems odd that Tomlin would leave for college but who knows.

Chris Petersen, formerly at Washington worked with the LSU AD at Washington. He has no buyout or financial implications. He has been a successful coach.

I thought so too. The Steelers job is as much a job for life as being on the Supreme Court. They've had what - three coaches in 50 years?

I wonder if this is the year that Jim Leonhard gets a shot at a major program. And if so, which opening? Would LSU consider him if the marquee names turn them down?
