At this point, if tanner is sucking next game, I would be very interested to throw athan in there, put in about 4 receivers, and air the ball out. It would finally open some running lanes for Potts, and we get to see the golden boy sooner rather than later. Who objects????

5th String QB? Seems logical.

At this point, I think Fleck has made it clear that he will not pull players out of the game for reasons of performance.

The only way Morgan comes out is if he is seriously injured and unable to continue. And, if that happens, Annexstad would be the replacement.

If you want to see the Gophers "air it out," it will have to be under a different coach.

Fleck will pass if it's working. It wasn't working on Saturday. However, he has to be able to figure out why it isn't working in a game.

Suggesting a different QB after the way the offense has looked recently isn't crazy. Suggesting the true freshman over any of the other options already on the roster is nuts.

Me thinks maybe the OP recently watched Varsity Blues.....

Morgan needs a mental rest. Let him out of practice for two days and sit the first half next week. The kid has had a rough start to the year. Put him back in when the time is right regardless of how the next guy up is doing. Morgan is the playmaker.

could run the Oop-dee-oop to Billy Bob then

1. How does Athan pass the other QB's on the depth chart so quickly?
2. When are the Gophers going to practice this 4 receiver air raid offense? This week?
3. What 4 receivers are you putting on the field in that package?
4. Who do you take off the field if you want to go 6 man line?
5. Do you keep Athan in for Wild Cat?

Why do we have all these 4⭐️ Caliber WR and they don’t get thrown to. What 4⭐️ WR will want to come here if the ball isn’t thrown. That 2023 4⭐️ WR brown might have second thoughts soon

We can play all four of them at the same game, the result will be the same because our coaches dont have a clue about how to coach right now.

my opinion, that just is for Morgan and maybe other PJ favorites. I’ve seen players get pulled who haven’t played well.

this is an area that PJ is not very good at.

the premiere coaches in CF don’t play favorites. PJ needs to learn to play the best players and if someone is not performing, pull him, if even for a few plays.

Saban, Day, etc, don’t care if you’re a 5th year senior with the best completion percentage, if you suck in a game, next man up. Winning is number one for these programs, not for PJ fleck. This is not bashing him, it’s just how he builds and tries to teach. One of his down sides as a coach which hopefully he changes.

No way, bring in a true Freshman to set the protections when the other team is blitzing, stunting and bringing extra people like BG, not a chance. Tanner struggled to call out the blitzes and extra safeties and linebackers on Saturday against BG and you want a True Freshman QB to come in and do this. He took two huge shots because of lack of blitz pick up's and protection calls being a little off.

We have to start seeing the Gophers making other teams pay with slants, quick crossing routes, and quick outs to the WR, and quick stick plays to the Tight ends.

If there going to bring extra then we need to make the opponent pay for doing that. I don't think throwing a true Freshman QB even if he is talented to the wolves is a good idea. Simply put not a good idea.

This is silly, Fleck want's to win as much as anyone and he doesn't play favorites in an effort to lose. The game Saturday was just flat, and not a good game. Time to turn the page, on Saturday and figure out a way to beat Purdue. Morgan play's QB and is the starter because he gives us the best chance to win right now, it's not about favorites and kissing arse in major college football the coaches know who gives the team the best chance to win. It was all of the things everyone said about Saturday a sucky horse bleep loss. Turn the page and move on.

True freshman too. Sure he'd be great at reading all the blitz packages.
And Morgan did? We have seen the number 2 in Kramer. Let him run the team a few series with slants and outs. Throw in the QB draw. He played well Saturday and earned a shot.

Morgan is going to be a football coach. Fleck is his mentor. The best lesson PJ could teach Tanner right now is hard decisions sometimes need to be made to sit a guy for a while when he is not performing.

We threw the ball on first down 4 times on Saturday before desperation kicked in. We ran the ball on first down 20 times. Of the 4 passes on first down, 1 went to CAB for 9, 1 went to BSF for 21, and another went to Daniel Jackson for 25 yards.

We are painfully predictable and part of the reason why our passing game stunk was the play calling. I'm not cutting Morgan any slack, he was terrible. However, the playcalling was unacceptable.

I think PJ should teach Morgan that the player who gives you the best chance to win should play. I'd be shocked if that player wasn't Morgan or Annexstad.

It may be Annexstad and it might be Kramer. But it is a big stretch to say on that day Morgan was giving us the best chance to win.

I think guys who are smart and practice well have longer leashes than guys who are maybe not as disciplined, not as educated on the offense, or not as mentally versatile as players who are.

I don't think this is unusual.
Players who practice well and play smart should always get a longer leash than players who don't practice as that same level.

Kramer is not the #2...more likely #4. His play Saturday was specific to the Wildcat. The fact that PJ put him in specifically for the wildcat tells me he's not looking at Kramer as his #2 or #3 QB. He's a situational QB right now.

That might be a good suggestion. Too bad that wasn't done before the last game.

With the OL performance that showed up last Saturday, it would have been tough going for whoever they put in at QB. Multiple guys not showing up for game day on the OL against BG. Painful to watch

Yeah, the OL play was terrible. I really think things would have loosened up a bit if we would have even just attempted more early down passes. We shouldn't need to do that against Bowling Green in order to run the football but we need to mix it up.
