This does of course raise the question of how many big name teams you can put in a conference .... and still have them all want to be there.

If Texas and OU can't compete, or they can and they destroy some other teams what then?

Texas's fanbase is a strong but a little fair weather ... their attendance has been horrible when they stink ... I wonder how long they last if they suck in the SEC and can't even get past Arkansas...

They’re going to get pumped in the SEC and tis going to be a delight. They aren’t good enough at the skill positions to come in and out athlete teams and they don’t have guys in the trenches to run over the lower tier. Oklahoma will be more interesting to watch as they should have the athletes, but we shall see with how porous their d has been over the years. Grass ain’t always greener

Texas is so fucked... Lol they will nebraska south in irrelevance very very soon

I think they will be more like Penn State. I could see a dip but not a permanent one.

Texas is obviously a recruiting hot bed. Austin is a fantastic city (especially for young folks). They have endless amounts of money to hire. If they stay bad, it'll be an even more catastrophic fall from grace than Nebraska.

The sec is not the Big12... They lost to Arkansas.....

Overreaction.

Texas will never be Nebraska. There's no talent in Nebraska. There's an abundance of talent in and around Texas.

There's no excuse for Texas to be where they've been, but the right coach can make them into a national power and perennial top 15 team.

Nebraska will never be a perennial top 15 unless Saban moved there to coach.

Texas never was Nebraska. Tom Osborne's Nebraska teams of the 90s are part of some of the greatest runs in the history of college football with Bierman and Saban in his ilk. In addition, they finished in the top 25 for almost 35 years. No one was, is, or probably ever will be Nebraska -- unless Nick can keep going for another decade (though I concede that natty's argument for Saban > Osborne). Nebraska's fall from grace is mimicking ours -- but they have an athletic department replete with funds and desire which I am not sure Paul Giel was able to muster for us.

People do realize Texas football has won less national championships than us and that the competition for recruits in Texas is quite high? If they continue to suck, they will be replaced on that pecking order as has already begun happening. The move to the SEC won’t change that unless they start winning

And as short as a decade ago they were beating Alabama in the National Championship game until Colt McCoy was knocked out of the game. Mack Brown era Texas would compete just fine in the SEC.

That was a fun game to attend.
Best atmosphere I have ever seen in Fayetteville.
