Video of Fleck crowd surfing in locker room after win today

Wins are wins. If you are going to treat opponents with equal respect and prepare for each game equally (not play up/down to competition) then you celebrate the same when you beat Miami (OH) by 1 as you do if you beat Alabama by 50.

I think some lose sight of the fact that you can celebrate winning a game and still fully understand it wasn't pretty and you have work to do.

I guarantee nobody associated with the football team is thrilled with the way that game went today. But the most important thing is they got the W and can keep working to improve.

You still celebrate the Victory and then you get back to work tomorrow and try to make sure you don't put yourself in a position of letting a lesser team hang around again.

Actually I really enjoyed it. It was the swan song of the previous regimes recruits(cupboard bare...) But let's not both live in the past. Let's focus on the here and now.
I mean the team did improve as more and more of the last regimes recruits left.

... ah yes, the swan song of kill recruits such as tanner morgan, rashod bateman, mohamed ibrahim, blaise andries, curtis dunlap, and daniel faalele

And I love those guys, but this discussion was about the heart of the 2019 team. Rodney Smith had 1200 yards. Tyler Johnson had 1300 yards. Winfield, Barber, and Martin were the top 3 tacklers and Coughlin and Renner were 1-2 in sacks.

I get what you guys want to do and pretend that Gopher football didn't exist pre-Fleck but that just isn't the truth. I hope for the best for Fleck, but there is nothing wrong with pointing out that our "best team" in the Fleck era relied heavily on recruits from the coaches before.

You want to pretend that the previous staff was better because the new guy won with some of their players? Guess what, we still have players from the previous regime. Do we have to wait until next year for Fleck to get credit for any wins? It's a little different winning in year three with the players you inherited and developed than pulling a Larry Coker. We don't pretend gopher football didn't exist before Fleck, we know it existed, but we don't pretend that it was better like you are doing.
Weren't we 3-4 last year?
Better than in year one of Fleck with a roster full of the previous regime's players.

Every coach is a salesman.
And selling=motivation. There are many ways to motivate players. Clearly PJ has his way and recruits guys that buy in. As long as our players are motivated to work hard and play hard that's all that matters.

Other coaches have different ways that also work well. Not sure why some people here have such a hard time with that.

Well, there are people here who seem to have a hard time with most everything.

I'm mostly referring to the locker room and sideline antics.
Honest question - Is there anything PJ does or could do that you would like? You have made it VERY clear you don't like him, and take issue with anything he does or says....we get it....move on.

I mean if PJ doesn't just yell at everyone and tell them to be embarrassed .... how are they going to get better!??!?!

The beatings must continue until morale improves!!!!

- The usual jerks who just show up to bitch

It's motivation, and that's good.

I remember Jerry Kill showing up and said he thought he would be a hard ass out of the gate. He tried it but quickly realized the team was so down on itself that what they needed was the exact opposite so he changed course.

Even just before Kill when Jeff Horton and Co. beat Iowa, he said he knew the team was down on itself and he needed them to just have fun. So he focused on that ... and they beat Iowa...

Those players know who Miami (Ohio) is and how they played. They're not confused... the staff isn't going to quit trying to improve.

Imagine in a world of coaches abusing players, looking the other way on sexual assault and other crimes, academic cheating, etc., thinking that the worst thing a coach can do is use catch phrases and sprint down the sidelines between quarters.
