Ugly. We have way too much talent to play like this.

Side note, I really think PJ plays too many favorites, not necessarily always the best players. Watching Irving on the kickoff returns, he's clearly a better runner than Wiley and Williams, yet he got 0 touches.

Morgan is a great kid, but he's not the most talented QB on the roster.

The difference between a Saban and a Fleck.

Saban will play the best players (he doesn't care about hurting a players feelings because they've been there longer), Fleck does not.

A few on defense as well.
Can’t figure out what good running back depth is if you never use it.

Shame isn't really the emotion for me after a win, but there's surely some concern moving on to more talented opponents. At times the Gophers looked better on the LoS against Ohio State's team of NFL draft picks than the Miami guys who were outsized by 70 pounds per man.

Maybe complacency set in 3rd quarter. We'll see next week.

I don't know that we have enough evidence to say Morgan isn't the best in the roster, but I don't know why Thomas and Irving haven't gotten some chances...

That's true, sadly only because PJ will not let anyone else come in, even during garbage time. I remember Jacob Clark had a beautiful throw in 2019, yet he never saw the field since.

It reminds me of Mo when Rodney and Shannon were here. Mo was clearly the best overall back, yet PJ didn't let him be the starter. I think PJ plays to his feelings a bit too much.

The Ohio State game we didn't play our best, yet we stayed with OSU. To go from that performance to this. Is Miami of Ohios defense better than Ohio State? That's what I would love to ask in the post game press conference.

I love PJ, he's not perfect, nobody is, but damnit we need to crush teams like Miami of Ohio. There's no excuse. Killer instinct for 4 quarters.

Today's game should give everyone concern when we start playing on the road.

As far as talent... Fleck gives us "coachspeak". I'm not seeing much talent on the defensive side of the football. Today proved we'll need to score 30-35 every game to have any chance at a win.

Defense is a huge concern - it doesn’t appear that we have any “big play makers”. It seems we try to play within a level of mediocre talent, try not to make big mistakes and hope the other team makes a mistake. This can work against below average teams but if you can’t make plays against good teams your not going far.

PJ always says the best players will play. I don’t believe him.

Gophers (and fans) flat after the big night game with Ohio State, but there is no excuse for the third quarter or having no passing game in the second half. Gophers should have scored 48 points - offense is vanilla, predictable. Big tough conference teams will give us fits.

How will that help us moving forward to feel shame for this win?

Ummm yeah, you should never feel ashamed of a win....ever.

Fleck teams have shown a real ability to play to the level of their opponent, especially in non conference games. I mean we went in at the half with an 18 point lead, feeling good about things. The third quarter was terrible on both sides of the ball and let Miami OH back into a game they had no business being in.

On a plus side, Fleck teams have also shown an ability to improve as the season goes on. Hopefully that trend continues.

One thing that has been the case over the first two games are a handful of dumb penalties. Fleck teams have been very good at avoiding those in years past, hopefully they get that figured out moving forward.

We had a game last week that everybody had marked on the schedule. We get off to a comfortable lead. I was pleased that we seemed to have put the Ohio State game behind us. But then we dicked around letting them back in the game. A big return sparked the offense again. The defense had it wrapped up before that stupid penalty. It's a game of emotion and it just about cost us, but I think Fleck will use this to get ready for next week.

Yes, there are things to be concerned about, but some of the reactions are beyond stupid, even for GH. It's very early in the season and nobody here knows how it'll play out, but I still like our chances to have a really good year.

Your idiocy has no bounds.

This poster/troll basically ruined the basketball board for 2 months this summer. Hopefully we don't have to put up with the same crap in September.

Oddly hasn't had much to say since Ben got 3 commits. Should be a week full of his trash, but a win against Colorado should silence him nicely.

I’m happy about this win. Glad to see Potts shine; ecstatic to see our kicker nail a 50 yard FG. Going forward, we will need 35 points minimum against any good team. Unlikely our defense will score in any given game; even more unlikely kick returners will score. So, it’s all on the offense. If we simply run Potts 40 times a game into loaded boxes, and throw a dozen passes (only when predictable), it will be a long frustrating season. Potts will get injured and our passing game (QB and WRs) will lose confidence and get rusty.

PJ clearly was playing not to lose today, rather than playing aggressively to win. Don’t throw downfield? He wasn’t taking what the defense gave us. Won’t be many explosive plays on the offensive side this year if this grossly unbalanced mentality continues. And it looks like we’ll be yielding at least 4-5 explosive plays a game on defense. Bad formula for the season.

Fleck probably loves this kind of blind allegiance.

Be objective in your view and you'll see what any knowledgeable fan sees... this team has some weaknesses.

Doesn't mean this team can't get to 8-9 wins with some luck.

Yup. Don't know why the mods don't remove this trash.

No blind allegiance here. Been attending almost every home game since ‘84. I know all about the highs and lows of gopher football.

Notre Dame beat Toledo today at home by 3 with a late TD. These games happen. Take the win and don’t over analyze it.
Glaring weaknesses and talent deficiencies are a problem all season, not just this game.
