I know I am not progressive and do not understand reality but I think the Big Ten should remain the Big Ten (keeping PSU is ok but I was not in favor of that either).

The Big Ten is above this... or so I thought.

Anyone else?

A part me wishes this weren't happening, but I understand the motivation. All the best football players are in Florida, Texas and California it seems and the powers that be do not want to become irrelevant to those kids. Nebraska gives us a championship game and another high profile team. That makes the Big Ten Network more appealing nationally.

I think most people fear change and that is not something that makes anyone weird. I resigned myself to expansion some time ago and have been surprised at how pleased I am that we added Nebraska (for now) and not some anonymous school like Rutgers or Syracuse. We added a school from what feels like the heart of Big Ten country.

Of course, what we all really want is Notre Dame. I personally think expansion is far from over and am praying that the final 2 teams are Notre Dame and Pitt. Those are also 2 schools that feel like 100% Big Ten schools and we will not have sold our soul to get to conference domination as the Pac 10 has.

We are be far the power conference when it comes to TV revenue. The PAC 10 is way behind the power conferences in that category. That means the Big Ten can be very selective, while the PAC 10 has to grab what they can get.

I also was wishing it wouldn't happen but Nebraska makes sense and I'm already getting used to it. At least they feel like a Big 10 school a hell of a lot more than a Rutgers or Syracuse. An 11 team conference is pretty unwieldy in scheduling fairly. I really hope Texas stays out no matter how big of a feather they are. It looks like they won't join but there were some reports I read today that indicated that possibility. That would change the whole tone of the conference, and I doubt they'd be satisfied unless they were dictating their terms. Screw Notre Dame too. Tired of us chasing them.

--Guessing an Iowa-Nebraska football game might become a pretty good annual game.
--I wonder how many of Nebraska's football players come from Texas and will that hurt their recruiting more than they think.
--Many here won't care, but Nebraska volleyball is really good and their women's basketball team also was highly ranked this year. Adding them figures to give the women's side of the conference more prestige.
--Was brought up in a different thread but I feel sorry for some schools, especially Iowa State. They were in that conference despite being at a disadvantage and now it's got to feel like a slap in the face to have other schools dump on them in search of bigger bucks. I hope they can find a good fit if the Big 12 falls apart like it looks.

Nebraska did ok recruiting Texas when they were still in the Big 8.
