2021-2022 Opponents

Figured this would be the matchup when the teams were announced. Gotta make sure they get the Bueckers against Minnesota game.
And I am assuming they will visit Williams Arena sometime during Paige's career since Geno usually gets homecoming games for the players.

Other teams we could likely see on the schedule this year would be Lehigh (tons of MN Kids), Bradley (multiple MN Kids) and Kansas State (Multiple MN Kids including seniors from MN)

I had not noticed Christianna Carr transferred from KSU to rocky Syracuse. I assume that means her dad is now on Syracuse's staff. (Kidding, kinda. He isn't.)

Kansas State released their schedule a few weeks ago and Minnesota isnt on it. I've heard Marquette is one of our nonconference games but I dont know if that was official or anything.

It would be nice to see South Dakota on the schedule. They have half a dozen Minnesota kids, including a couple really good seniors.

I'm not all that hep on the idea of inviting teams with Minnesota products to return home for a game against the Gophers. I don't have a problem with the Gophers scheduling teams like Lehigh or the Dakota teams, all teams with Minnesota players but teams that the Gophers normally don't recruit against. But with UConn and other non-conference teams that have Minnesota players, I sometimes wonder if those matchups serve as a reminder of how poorly the Gophers have recruited Minnesota girls under previous regimes. That's all changing now with Whalen and her staff, but I'm still not hot on the idea. That being said, it would be fun to see Bueckers at Williams sometime when she is a junior or senior...hopefully when our Gophers will be more competitive. Auriema has shown that he'll play anybody anywhere and with his past ties with Whalen, I would think that would be a possibility. And, I would think that the Gophers would have a chance to fill Williams Arena with such a game.

On a related/non-related note, I'm wondering if St. Thomas might start getting some of the type of Minnesota players that have previously gone to Lehigh. Chance for those ladies to get a DI scholarship and stay at home.

So far we know...

Nov 14th- George Washington
Nov 20th- UConn
Nov 21st- Syracuse/South Florida
Nov 22nd- Buffalo/Oklahoma/South Carolina/Oregon
Dec 1st- North Carolina

I fully agree with both statements

Nov 20th- UConn
Nov 21st- Syracuse/South Florida
Nov 22nd- Buffalo/Oklahoma/South Carolina/Oregon
Nov 28th- UTSA

I've heard a holdup on releasing the full schedule is looking for another game in December between the 11th-15th. Once that game is set, the schedule will likely come out. Also sounds like could be having road game to a Pac-12 team as well as road game to complete a home/home from last year but will wait to see.

If that's the case Arizona St is probably the pac 12 road game, they played here a couple years ago and we likely owe them a game there.
