I think you added the wrong tweet.

FIXED!

PJ is super secret about medical stuff outside a few exceptions.

I really don't expect to find much out.

Man I hope everyone just gets a vaccine for their health and just saving so much risk as far as missing games and such.

They should all be required to get vaccine or not set foot on campus!
When did you get misinformed that it 100% prevented you from getting covid or being able to spread it?. Agree it helps some but unless it's 100% preventing the spread this is just stupid.

(I apologize for biting on this, and I won't go further on it in this thread.)
Expecting vaccines to be 100% preventative and 100% preventative from spreading is impossible. They never have been. They do, however, greatly increase the odds of preventing one from getting something, or getting really sick, as well as the odds of others getting it.

The post I replied to implied that everything would be fine and no covid would be spread if nobody that was unvaccinated was allowed on campus. That's seriously misinformed to think that and ridiculous to take such a hard line on vaccines knowing they aren't 100% effective and don't guarantee you can't transmit it. I'm glad I got it myself but people are going way too far with the virtue signaling.

Vaccination plus masking will be effective in slowing down the spread of Covid. You can't stop the virus, but you can slow it down and prevent it from mutating into even more dangerous variants. I hear there is already a Delta B Plus.

I have a feeling there is a correlation between those who don’t want to be told to get vaccinated and those who want to restrict women from having a choice in their family planning.
It would have been hard to stop polio in this era

And yet another thread veering hard off the rails....

Looking forward to hearing how some of the camp position battles are going in the early stages as reports start to trickle out over the next couple weeks. Arguably one of the most important battles are who sees the most snaps at WR after CAB; those are a few positions that are most definitely up for grabs with hardly a clear front-runner

GO GOPHERS!!!

This new contagion is going to be around forever.

We have to learn how to deal with it.

The fate of humankind is in the balance. People that will enable the virus to mutate into more potent forms due to hesitancy or are anti-vaxxers are on one side. On the other side are the rest who take the virus seriously.

This is the Ying and the Yang. Is humanity going into a self destruct mode? We have been doing that for centuries.

We should be talking about our excitement about our beloved Gopher Football team! The subplots in the WR corps. About how Mo will move mountains and into the Heisman conversation. Our excitement about our fortress we call the Offensive Line. About Mo catching passes and the TEs getting into more pass catching.

I am angry at this virus. It almost took my life. I am not going to let it sap my joys in life.

YES! Many of us agree, this is EXACTLY what we should be talking about here!! Well stated! It's August, fall camp is here!! Football is in the air!!!

If Lane can do this. Why can't others?

No NFL team has gotten 100 percent of its players vaccinated. One college program has.

Mississippi coach Lane Kiffin, a former head coach of the Raiders, said Sunday that the Ole Miss program has all players, coaches, and staff vaccinated.

“It’s pretty amazing and great motivation for our fans and the state,” Kiffin said, via Chris Low of ESPN.com.

University of Minnesota to require COVID vaccinations for students once shots receive FDA approval

The University of Minnesota announced Monday it will require students to be vaccinated against COVID-19 once the shots receive full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, which is expected in the coming weeks.

The university's vaccination mandate, which must be approved by the Board of Regents, would apply to the roughly 60,000 students attending the U's five campuses. University faculty and staff must either get vaccinated or agree to be regularly tested for COVID-19.

"This will allow us the best chance to have normal campus activity this fall and uninterrupted in-person, on-campus instruction," U President Joan Gabel wrote in a message to students and employees Monday. "We understand that this is a challenging decision for our community, but our interests are first and foremost the health of our students, staff, and faculty."

The proposed mandate is a reversal from the university's previous stance to encourage, not require, COVID vaccinations.

And it comes after many U professors and staff criticized the university for requiring only masks but not vaccinations or regular COVID-19 testing.

Pending likely regent approval, the U will join hundreds of colleges nationwide, including about a dozen private colleges in Minnesota, that have implemented vaccination mandates.

It’s hard to comprehend but many of us can discuss multiple topics on this message board.

Great news! This should definitely help the cause

Considering the cesspool that the state is in with regards to COVID, it might be the only chance they have that they can field a team for a full year.

Now that the school has said everyone should be vaccinated, wonder whats going on the minds of those players who refuse to take the shot? More lawsuits now?

Probably not, there's very little legal standing IMO since the U's vaccine mandate specifically waits to kick in until after full FDA approval. At that point, as far as I am aware, it's the same legally as the other vaccine requirements for students: https://boynton.umn.edu/immunization-requirement

Look - from a football standpoint, you want the best players available to play. Nobody wants another season like 2020 where you didn't know from week to week if the game was going to be played and which players would be available.

There are no 100% guarantees with covid, but the best chance of ensuring that players are available on game day is for all the players and support staff to be vaccinated.

Does anyone want Morgan or Ibrahim to miss a game because some 3rd-stringer or walk-on was unvaccinated and exposed one of the starters? Bleep no.
