Who and when do you think will be Johnson’s first commit?

We will get some guys off the portal pretty soon I bet. Battle for sure I’m guessing. I say he’ll commit within the month

Do active gophers count? Please lord holloman or chatman be the first.

I would guess Demarion Watson-Saulsberry. Good wing prospect that can shoot the 3 and has the length and athleticism to have some upside as a good defender. He was offered by Xavier while Johnson was there so there's likely already somewhat of a relationship there, already has a zoom meeting set up according to Ryan James and a little added bonus is he's teammates with Taison Chatman at Totino-Grace and with Team Sizzle. There's going to be quite a few scholarships to play with in 2022 so there's a number of ways that class could go but addressing 3PT shooting and defense would be a good start.

I believe I've heard that his dad or possibly both parents went to Purdue, but maybe Johnson can work his magic
I think its only his dad did and his mom went to Minnesota, the issue being he still has family living in Lafayette and his dad was the bigger impact on his fandom making him a Purdue fan.

If you look at the teams winning games in the NCAA tournament, it's some combo of shooting, defense, and foot quickness.

King was re-offered? Does that mean his initial offer was pulled? If yes, why (I hadn't noticed before)?
Doubt that it was pulled, but when a new guy comes in, you can never assume that he wants all the same guys the old coach was looking at. So the new coach will generally re-connect with previously offered players they're interested in, just to reassure that player that the team is still interested.

Any chance we get him? I saw that it’s probably Colorado
When you've grown up your whole life in a place that flatter than a pancake, it stands to reason that the mountain beauty is a strong draw.

We cooled on a 4*?
Right

Hurlburt would be a massive building block for this program. 2-3 year talented big to pair up with Thompson. It could set us up at C/PF nicely!

No, I think it's just the new coach is reaching out to make sure Eli knows that the new staff is interested. Some recruits are kind of in limbo after a coaching change, so it's just HCBJ letting him know that they want him on the team.

So do transfers have to wait till April 15th in basketball to sign with a new school? Seems like a lot of names are going into the portal but not hearing about where guys are ending up. Don't follow it super close but know there are others that do.

I would also suggest it includes an ability to play different styles of ball. One of the reasons I picked Oral Roberts (other than they were playing Ohio State) is that I thought they had the ability to compete with higher level teams both inside and outside. It was the one thing I was right on in this tournament. Teams locked in on one style of play are super vulnerable to match up problems or ice cold shooting. Ask Wisconsin.

Good question. They may need to wait to sign, but they can commit. Michigan State got their much- needed point guard from Northeastern to commit over the weekend. There will be a lot of recruiting going on in the next three weeks or so.

If Ben wasn't recruiting him from Xavier, it isn't happening for us.

Depends on our assistant situation. One of them could have been in contact with Hurlburt for quite some time and is still going to be on staff. Once he heard that news he may have decided its time to commit?

Has anyone watched him in AAU? He has no competition up here but I'm guessing that he must have done well in the circuit to get that high rating?
