All Things Gopher Baseball

BTN+ schedule shows no baseball games?!?!?
Was talking baseball tonight with a guy at a hockey game and I said I'll have to renew my BTN+ and he mentioned he emailed the U this week and got a response right away that they say all home games should be available including the U.S. Bank games although those are a little more difficult for them to do. The plan is to have them all available even though there are some pretty heavy schedule days looking ahead.

Does your guy anticipate Iowa having games on BTN+ when they play at U.S. Bank? Not much clarity for us and I have a pretty open calendar to watch.

He said he emailed Joel Larsen who is the live productions operation manager but only asked about the Gophers. I know they have done those other tournament games in the past but not sure if they will this year with more sports going at the same time. You can try to email him if you want [email protected]

Whats up with Fredrickson. Only pitched two innings all weekend and that was in game 4. Gave up two hits and no runs. Is he still rehanging from last year.?

He came out of the bullpen. The last two years have not been good for him at all. His stuff looked a lot like his freshman year yesterday and that is a big positive. If he can put a couple outings up in a row like yesterday I think there is a solid chance he finds his way back to the rotation.

Illinois wins in extras Friday as Gopher pitching melted down in the 10th inning and then they take both ends of the doubleheader yesterday. Gophers sit at 1-6 and are not playing good baseball at all. Pitching is inconsistent with too many free passes and missing spots. Offense has been atrocious for the most part. Not enough plate discipline, missing on mistakes, and seems like we are always playing from behind.

Goldy and Lincoln have summed it up.

The strikeouts have been alarming. So many swings and misses on good pitches to hit from what I have seen. Raabe intentionally walked twice in the series finale. They need to start getting some guys hitting to protect him.

Pitching has been spotty; still think it can be better by end of year, but really thought the offense would be better and help carry the team early in the year. With no B10 tournament this year, already feels like it is a down year with almost no NCAA hopes.

It's amazing that we can have a AA candidate at 2B hitting close to .600 and STILL have the 3rd worst BA in the conference. If you take away Raabe, the team average is .198. Team ERA is 7.86, by far the worst in the conference. This is not your typical Gopher baseball squad. I wonder what is going on.

Whatever happened... it is not good.

They better go on a win-streak here in the middle of the season, or else there are going to be some questions asked about the program’s future. I, for one, don’t want those questions to be asked.

They don't pitch and they don't hit a bad combination. In a year where the predictions were solid, it looks like a long year for the Gophers.

Gophers looking absolutely pathetic. 12 innings so far against the Huskers and the Gophers have struck out 19 times. Hitting approach is non existent.

It was a complete meltdown in the 6th in game one yesterday, and then completely non-competitive in game two.

They need those mid-week games against Augsburg, St. Olaf and Macalester to possibly get in the win column. They are not even competitive. I would like to hear what Anderson has to say about what is going on with this team.

Minnesota baseball has been successful since the Truman administration with Siebert & Anderson coaching 70 of the 73 years. It’s a remarkable run. Only three years ago we finished #7 in the final Baseball America poll. Hopefully we’ll stabilize next year in a non-pandemic season. Have faith in Number 14!

Word on the street it may be #14's last year. I hope not. I'd hat to see him go out after this year.

Have started to play a little better baseball. Offense certainly looked to be getting to more where it was expected last week against Michigan State and even tonight against Iowa but definitely improvement to be had situationally and just not coming through with men on base. Starting pitching has become a little more solidified it seems. Getting better outings for the most part. Bullpen is still a huge question mark. Not sure there is a guy I trust coming out of there right now. Defense has been solid for the most part but seems to be when they do have a mistake/error this team doesn't respond well and really has trouble overcoming them. Happened with Wilhite dropping a flyball Sunday and it snowballed and then again tonight with Wassel starting the ugly 5th with the homeplate ump also playing a big role as that inning went on.
