Kirk Ciarrocca getting some heat

I would imagine they are not happy with any of the PSU staff, so far.

They've been very unlucky in their schedule so far:
week 1 - vs the surprise darlings of the East, Indiana, and they would've won the game if the guy just realized he shouldn't have scored. Tough when you don't practice that scenario. Every team in the nation did, after that.
week 2 - they played Ohio State the closest they've been played so far, very competitive game, but what are you gonna do it's a top 3 team
week 3 - I think Maryland is going to end up surprising a lot of people this year. Their week 1 score doesn't do them justice, and NW is currently top in the West right now anyway.

Really looking forward to PSU getting their season back on track and giving Lincoln a swift boot right in their stubby corndicks!

Taulia Tagovailoa was 18/26 with 282. 3 TD's, 0 ints yesterday.
As I was saying in the post-game MD thread, I think Taulia was making throws a lot of QB's can't make.

Not sure what happened for Taulia vs NW other than NW has good defense and maybe some first game jitters for Taulia.

If Kirk is feeling the heat, so be it.

He wanted to go to a bigger name program and be closer to his roots.

When your offense puts up huge numbers at Minnesota, but can't do it at Penn State, the nitter spitters are going to swear and spit more loudly.

Comes with the job.

One of their many problems is their offensive line is performing horribly. Firing Limegrover is biting them.

He was literally throwing it up for grabs in the middle of the field on multiple occasions in the first half. I think he got picked 3 times? He also didn't show the same ability to escape the pocket that he has the past two weeks. Probably partly jitters as you pointed out and partly improvements in pass pro. After watching yesterday, I'm sure the MN staff and players are kicking themselves even harder for blowing that game in the 4th quarter.

Just about a perfect weekend. Gophers winning big, Nebraska getting beat, Michigan getting beat, but then the Catholic officials let ND win. Sad

First game, and it just got away from them. I think he tried to do too much and force too much to happen, to try to catch up.

Also ... you know, maybe, just maybe, NW is good? Seems weird to think, given last year, I know.

Are you being serious? Was Limey actually a good OL coach? Honest question.

I wonder if right about now he is thinking he made a huge mistake leaving the Gophers. This should be a wake up call to PJ Fleck, too. Bigger isn't always better - the same thing could very well happen to Fleck if he were to leave for a "better" job. Ciarrocca could get fired at the end of the year and even though he could end up on his feet - it will probably not be for as good as what he had with the Gophers.

So the thing Fleck will have to ask himself is: does he think he's good enough to be Urban Meyer?

Right now, Fleck is doing like what Urban did at Utah. Obviously we all know what he was able to do at Florida after that, and then Ohio State.

I'm sure Urban would've gone down as the best coach in Utah history, if he had stayed. And who knows what they would've been able to do. But, he probably isn't the Urban we all know today, without taking those major gigs.

That'll be what the decision is for Fleck, if he gets offered a similar type of opportunity.

He left to be closer to his family who live near there. So sometimes in life there isn't just jumping at the mythical better job. Let's be happy for the time we had him. He was a good coordinator for us.

NW is definitely good.

not great but good. Every year northwestern has a competent offense they’ll be in the mix. This year, they do. They’re in the mix

Fleck did at WMU what Meyer did at Utah.

Fleck did at WMU what Meyer did at Utah.
As much as I wish that was true ... the fact is that Fleck did at WMU what Urban did at Bowling Green.

Now he's at his Utah step. He could decide to stay, or he could decide that he thinks he can do at ____ what Urban did at Florida.

Interesting thing is that their QB this year, a competent one, was shed off by Indiana. Talk about programs on the rise.

Disagree. Level of competition similar to MAC. His combined record at BG and Utah got him the attention to get to FLA.

Utah in those days was on the cusp of the PAC and was getting 40k attendance. The competition was well above the MAC, probably something like today’s AAC.

Your point is correct though. It wasn’t P5, as the Gophers are. But the Gophers are obviously not Florida.

So my overall point stands. Don’t get me wrong, I hope he stays.

Again disagree on how you describe MW. You probably need to look at who made up those conferences at the time.

Franklin has to be the most overrated coach in the big ten.

Based on what? The only current B1G coaches that have a better winning percentage than Franklin are Day and Chryst. He's won 11 games and finished in the top 9 three out of the last four years.

56-26 record with all the advantages PSU has isn't super impressive to me. Will be 5-3 best case scenario this year.
