2020 College Football Other Games Thread: Week 2

Arkansas St just went up on Kansas St late. Not a good start for the Big 12.

This could be a year when a non power 5 gets into playoff.
One non conference game. Unbeaten G5 and then Iowa State somehow wins big 12

Our bowl opponent Georgia Tech hits the field against Florida State here shortly.

That game was proof positive we'd turned a corner going into Year 2.

Pulling for the upset.

Georgia Tech has always been one of my "other" rooting interest teams. Love Calvin Johnson. Don't care nearly as much about Demariyus Thomas....but it always was odd to me how GT's best players of recent have been pass catchers....despite their triple option offense. Darren Waller....the TE for the Raiders played there too.

I know that the service academies all run triple-options....but I always thought it was really cool that GT ran the triple option in a P5 conference. Had some really good teams in the mid to late 00's....and then of course the Top Ten finish in 2014.

Georgia Tech has always been one of my "other" rooting interest teams...

Growing up a Bulldog and being a UGA grad gave Tech a very special and dark place in my football soul.

Living up here for 30+ years and becoming a Gopher has allowed 2 "other" teams to now dwell in that place.

Still, beating GT felt good. Would feel the same about beating UGA some day too. Beating Auburn was certainly fun.

GSU is losing 7-0 to the juggernaut Campbell Fighting Camels.

Duke is giving Notre Dame a good game. Only down 10-6 and stopped them for the first drive of the half. Probably should be winning. ND converted a fourth and 5 or 6 in the first when they were back in their own territory on a fake punk. Turned it into their first touchdown. Duke had the ball all the way down on ND's one or two yard line and failed to put it in for a TD.

Hoping that Duke can beat that annually overrated team.

Don’t worry- ND can have 3 losses, and still be in the playoff chase. The ND bias knows no bounds.

Go Devils!

C'mon Dukies! Yeah, I've got not interest in ever seeing Notre Dame in the playoff. At least when Bama gets in during a down year, you know they're a legit powerhouse.

And gosh is Dungy very uninteresting as a color guy.

You know this has happened before right?

WOOOO! Georgia Tech somehow manages to come back and beat Florida State in Tallahassee!
It was a fun game to watch. Very similar to the Gophers at the start of last year. Lots of mistakes but figure out how to win. FSU is not as good as they used to be either. Regardless, solid W for GT.

I don’t get how Florida St’s offense can consistently be so bad with so much talent.
As evidenced by G5 and FCS teams beating P5 teams every year.
Usually talent wins. But sometimes a huge execution gap can overshadow a huge talent gap

Kansas already down 14 in Q1 to Coastal...the Big 12 opening week struggles continue...

It's kind of hard to judge because Kansas....but Coastal Carolina looks pretty good. We're all busting on the Big 12....but has anyone stopped to think.....maybe the Sun Belt got REALLY good since last year?

:D

Coastal up 28 - 0 at the half ....

Like Kansas was -7 going into the game.

Either Kansas is trash (...again) or Coastal Carolina is pretty good. I know that's not the boldest statement ever, but I don't know which one it is.

Interestingly, CC has a kid from Chanhassen starting at safety. Can't remember his name now. How does a kid from Chanhassen end up at Coastal Carolina? I mean, good for him. The scenery down there is top notch.
