Former Fergus all-state lineman talks with NDSU

The University of Minnesota is not expecting offensive lineman Josh Campion to ever enroll with the Gophers, which is fueling speculation that the former Fergus Falls all-state player may end up at NDSU.

Campion, who signed with the Gophers in 2009 but apparently did not qualify academically, has talked with Bison football and wrestling coaches. But nothing official has come from it.

Campion would be considered a “grayshirt” and would still have four years of eligibility. An athlete’s five-year eligibility clock does not start until his first day of class.

Josh's lifting partner Adam Schueller a 6 4 275 OT from Fergus Falls got a scholarship to NDSU in february, which makes this seem like a done-deal.

Is this from a newspaper or something?

What a buzz kill for that kid. Having to go from a Big Ten team to the Bison. Atleast he has a shot at PT right away.

That's too bad he couldn't make it in. It is a good thing we loaded up on lineman the last couple of classes. NDSU should be a good fit close to home with a smaller school.

Wow….the Bison must have some rigorous admissions standards…..

It amazes me how dumb some of these kids are. The U is not that hard to do well at academically. Makes one want to push for athletes to have a minimum GPA in order to go out for sports in HS.

Most (if not the great majority of) high schools have a minimum GPA requirement in order to participate in extracurricular activities.

Good luck, though, being the teacher who keeps the BMOC off the team because you failed him in underwater basket weaving.
