Sam Renner Appreciation

Had a really solid year. Somehow had like three defensive holdings at crucial times early on though

Exatctly.
I was thinking when that was happening (defensive holdings) that he/we were going to be in for a long year, but he stuck with it and improved his best significantly(y)(y)(y)(y).

John Schlecht esque as he maximized his ability and became a starter/valuable player for us.

Renner is definitely a great story. Really came out of nowhere to develop into a very solid player for us. Hopefully it works out for him at the NFL level and he is able to make the Rams roster.

Best of luck to Mr. Renner! Love that a local kid walks on and becomes a valuable member of a great team!

This is a thing of beauty about the Gophers program. Everyone has a chance to be elite through hard work. There is no distinction between a Walk-On or a Scholarship player. Everyone equally has a shot at starting.

Sam Renner is a poster boy for the program.

Sam worked his ass off to be a big contributor to the program. He deserves to reap some rewards for his effort.

Announcers kept saying last year that Renner was the type of guy that will stick around the league for 10-12 years...thats a long ass time

Walk ons that make it are a special breed because they don't feel entitled and they understand the value of hard work and perseverance. They had to fight to earn their place on their college team so they tend to be the guys that will work really hard at the next level as well. Coaches love that kind of player. They might not get the early round pick or high contract but they show up everyday and work their butt off. Teams will find a place for a guy like that if he shows he can handle the competition level.

Met and hung out with his Dad at the Outback Bowl....great guy as well.
